You're worried about being out of context on a board that thrives on non-sequiturs? Jeez, you really *have* been away from this place too long!

What do non-sequiturs have to do with anything?

Game on. The Rays come back from an 8-0 deficit to win in extra innings against the Blue Jays today. Mark it down....today is the true start of defending our AL championship. Bring on the Yankees next week. We have tickets for 2 of the 3 games at the Trop.

My biggest concern is that we need to get more than 10K fans in the seats for these games. It is almost a forgone conclusion that this is the last year for Crawford but we need to have more support or there could be a fire sale after the season to rival what the Marlins did after they took the World Series. It must be something in the Florida water.

Nola, At this point in time, and for the next few weeka, I might refrain from using "fire" and "Florida water" in the same paragraph together... just as a precaution... otherwise the team may have to ch-ch-changes its name to the Tampa Bay Flambé

I suspect that Carl will command a salary with some team that rivals the pay for the entire Rays team next year . . . but that is NEXT year!
This is THIS year and right now, these fellows are the best of the best. And for a moment, once again, a little nothing team like the Rays with only pennies compared to the Yankees can field a team among the best.
Alas, its all about business and I suspect if the Rays do very well, even make the Series again, each fucker will demand more of this and that, go to another team for more money and that will be that.
I think A Rod it is is building a house down here in Tampa that's some 25,000 square feet out on Davis Island. What the FUCK does a fellow need with a house that big?? When it's all said and done, he'll probably be one of the dumb fucks who spent it all, thinking the money will last forever.
But right now it's the RAYS baby!! GO RAYS GO!!

A little over halfway home and the Rays are playing .614 ball. I like our chances even with the Yankees as hot as they are. I am thankful they flubbed the Cliff Lee trade.
I am ready for the second half of the season to start. It should be very interesting.

The winning team will be in 1st place and this may go a long way in deciding the Cy Young award too.

Nope. I have to blame Jeter. But I have always thought that "cheating" is more ingrained and accepted in baseball than any other sport. Stealing signs, doctoring the baseball, faking being hit by the pitch, sliding out of the base path, etc. are all looked upon more as gaining a strategic advantage rather than cheating. But in the purest form it really is just cheating.
