Don't forget guys that the Indians went up 3 games to 1 last year in the LACS and still lost to the Red Sox. Don't count your chickens until they win the fourth game.

4 down with 7 to go
Tampa Bay Rays 9 Boston Red Sox 8 One of the best games I've ever seen! We stayed till the bitter end!!It was the best playoff game this October so far. Homerun Derby came to mind here. (8, I think) psssst....After pounding Boston yesterday at Fenway Park. I'd say they are well on their way to the World Series.

This would be good, considering Boston is paying Manny's salary.

You can usually tell when a team is beat and the series is out of their reach but Boston is one of those teams you don't count out until the last out of the 4th win.

14 - 3 RAYS!!
We go up 3 - 1 in the series. Boston will have to win 2 games in St. Pete. They can do it, but I'm feeling pretty good right now!!

Hopefully the day off will not cause them to lose momentum. That's what happened to Cleveland last year.

They have to win 1 in Boston before they can even think about winning 2 down here. I think the odds of them coming back in a series after being down 3-1 for a third time are pretty long this time. 6 down with 5 to go. I like the sound of that

They came back from 3 - 1 against the Indians last year and did the same against the Yanks a few years back. However, they don't have Manny Ramirez (sp?) and Lowell, both who played a big part in last year's comeback. Last night was just BEAUTIFUL!!! We'll be at the game Saturday afternoon, unless the Rays pull some miracle and win again Thursday. ..............Bob

Two exciting things are about to take place and I am giddy with anticipation as to which event will occur first.... the Rays make the World Series or gas falls below $3.00 a gallon here. I filled up at $3.13 this afternoon. It has dropped over .40 the past few days.
Go Rays and go $2.78 gasoline!!!!!

*It aint over till the fat lady sings*, *Don't count you chickens (on a pizza) till they hatch* comes to mind here.
I turned them off and left to go play cards when the Ray's where up 7-0 in the top of the seventh. I was amazed and pissed, that I missed the best playoff game (5) of October. Game two was the best. What a series it's turning out to be. I LOVE BASEBALL!!!!
"The Red Sox's comeback from a 7-0 deficit in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series on Thursday, to beat the Rays, 8-7, and cut Tampa Bay's series lead to 3-2, was the second largest in postseason history, eclipsed only by the Philadelphia A's rallying from 8-0 down to beat the Cubs in Game 4 of the 1929 World Series, according to the Elias Sports Bureau."
psssst.....Tampa Bay Rays will get past it and go on to win the ALCS!!!!

"PHILADELPHIA -- The evidence of the past two World Series suggests that maybe the waiting, as the Tom Petty song goes, is the hardest part. The Rockies and Tigers believe it. The Phillies will find out."
psssst....Add Pennants to the list then you can pencil in LAA & Cubs. More of a problem than I thought.

A Boston-Phillie World Series would be interesting for NYC, but maybe not for the rest of the country. Here's why: Yankee fans would be rooting against Boston and Mets fants (like ME) would be rooting against the Phils, who beat us out *twice* in a row (because the Mets CHOKED!).

Only if the don't let Thursday's loss fry the minds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Joe I agree, the young have a hard time letting go. They are a well coached team. Plus, they have a level headed veteran in Cliff Davis (Ex-Cubbie) who will pull them through. psssst.....They for sure have the power, speed, pitching, coaching, and team spirit to go all the way. I, like you, am a National League fan. (St Louis, NY Mets, Pittsburgh, are my favorites when the Cubs are out of it) I was so looking forward to a Mets/Cubs playoff series. Their CHOKING prevented that from happening too. (twice) I fell for the Rays early in the playoffs. I'm sticking with them all the way. psssst.....I can play centerfield

... And just like that, we have a game 7 in the ALCS. You know what Game 7 is, don't you? Game 7 is Anything Can Happen Day. A Game 7 in the LCS can be more exciting than all of the NFL games on Sunday combined. Now, everyone, take a deep breath, relax, and let's play a memorable one ... This one's gonna be fun ... GO BOSTON!!!

Do the Rays hear footsteps? Maybe they better call the Yankee's and Indian's to find out what happened in game 7 of those series. Who has who where they want them?
Is there any team in history professional sports who can match theses achievements?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MLB couldn't ask for anything better.

The Rays were real flat tonight. No energy at all. The fans were excited as hell, but the team was flatter than a flounder.
Losing the previous game after being up 7 - 0 in the 7th inning I'm sure drained it all out of them.
It's been a fun season. They are a very young team and if the powers to be can keep them together, they could become very good for several years to come.
I'll be pulling for the Red Sox in the series. Yea, I know, it's not over yet, but the chances of the Rays winning game 7 I think at this point are nil.
Still . . . worst to first. NOT BAD!!

This Rays team if they end dumping game 7 have no reason to hang their heads. They played first class ball. They just met a team with a little more playoff experinece. They remind me of the 1971 Oakland A's who lost the ALCS to Baltimore but came back to win the World Series form 72 to 74.
There still is one game to go, so it's not over yet.

I'm still here. The sun came up this morning. There is a tiny hint of fall in this glorious Florida day. My LSU Tigers pulled out a hard fought win on the road last night. Gas is now 2.89 a gallon. Life is pretty, pretty, pretty good right now all things considered.
But more importantly the Rays have Garza on the mound tonight and they are home at the Trop. I still like their chances a lot. They are young and resilient. They remind me a lot of my beloved Orioles from the mid 60's. Nobody gave them a chance against the mighty, unbeatable Dodgers lead by Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale in the World Series. And yet they took them out in 4 straight.
I believe in the Rays. I think they will find a way to win tonight. Now the wait begins. I may even jump in the car this afternoon and see if I can snag a ticket outside the Trop.

I am sorry to say that the Rays looked like a beaten team last night. The day off broke there momentum. The late inning loss in Boston game 5 has played with their minds and last night they just got beat by a superior team.
If they can calm down and play and say all the pressure is on Boston to defend their title, they might just pull it off tonight.

Real question in my mind, regardless who wins, can the Phillies get back into post season form after this long lay off.
Ive see too many teams get really rusty and lose their edge as a result of winning their series quickly and having to wait for their opponent to win a hard fought contest (think back to the Detroit-StLouis series two years ago)

The Rockies had the same problem last year. They had a 6 day lay off and it killed them in games 1 and 2 and by then it was all over.
