Flew out this morning on a 5:30AM flight to New Orleans. Sitting in our French Quarter hotel catching up on some light work before heading out for some food and drinks. Wedding day is Saturday afternoon for our son and his Russian bride to be. This will be a fun few days. Our hotel was built in 1725 and was the first school in Louisiana. What hotel are you staying in? Sounds like a cool place. We are at the Place de Armes. It is right across the street from St. Louis Cathedral.

So parts of our hotel are almost 300 years old. Parking is at a premium in the French Quarter. This calls for creative thinking. Our hotel uses a car elevator to move the cars to a higher level. Mrs. Nola thinks this is quaint. I guess it is until the damn elevator blows a fuse. We have now been waiting 2+ hours for our car. We have wedding stuff to do but I would be furious if I were checking out to head to the airport and they could not produce my car.

So parts of our hotel are almost 300 years old The house I have been living in since last August was built around the year 1450. I'm moving out tomorrow. Sloping floors and cracking my head on door frames built for our shorter ancestors 550 or so years ago stopped being quaint about a week after I moved in.

Alaska Air is ready to board for the flight from Austin to Seattle but we just saw the Obama motorcade arrive to board Air Force One. We are going nowhere soon for sure.

Whenever I mix alcohol and golf I usually wind up with a 120 which coincidentally is also is my bowling score when I party.
Have fun.

We made it home. Nice trip, weather was great, played golf Thursday and Friday well at least I played golf on Thursday. Friday I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Had some good meals and drank more that I should of but what the hell.
Sadly to say this may have been the last convention that I attend. Most of the people that used to go when I was moving up the chairs 30 years ago have passed on or quit. I was so disgusted with the Friday night activities and meetings that Denice and I left Saturday morning. The new people in charge of the District have no fucking idea what they are doing and will not listen to anyone who tries to give them advise. They just fucking ignore the few of us that used to do it right. Protocol has been tossed out of the window and a I have no idea what to do is king. I am pretty well done with the District, so I think I will just keep my activities down to my club level or lower.

Hasta la vista baby.
Headed out to the airport to spend the night at the Hyatt onsite. We have an early morning flight out to Mexico & Desire for the week.
I wonder if I can turn the tv off and trust the Rays to hold this one run lead for the last two innings.
Probably not.

I'm off to France in the morning for a couple of days. Taking the car over to stock up on cheap booze, cheese, washing powder and anything else that catches my eye.
Au revoir.

Welcome back Simon from the land of wine and whine.
We find ourselves today in Newport Beach, California, a beautiful LA suburb out in the land of quakes, palm trees, and big budget deficits.

Joe, we will be here til Tuesday, then headed back to Austin. We will be in SF in October and will give you a little notice in case you are in the city and want to grab a beer. Had a good lunch in Manhattan Beach with my god daughter. Headed to dinner tonight on Balboa Island, then off to San Diego tomorrow to see my wife's cousin. BTW, Virgin just started a direct flight between Austin and SFO.
