In the spirit of full disclosure I have been gone all week. We are in the Outer Banks but headed back to FL tomorrow. We can see a little pre Sandy effect in the surf this morning.

Try to wave hard enough that it blows far out to sea and it misses us completely.

It occurs to me that with the advent of smart phones, tablets, free WiFi and 4G data networks all over the place, the purpose of this thread has really changed! It's now not so much about "I'll be gone for awhile" as it is about "Hey, guess where I am!"
But that's cool, too. I guess we can use it both ways.

Instead of "Where's Waldo?" it's "Where's Dildo?"

Nola, your timing was good. Indeed. We are getting out of Dodge just in time. The surf has started to kick up as the day goes on. Now I am just hoping for a smooth 2 hour flight in the morning headed south along the coast.

Since we are not on our way to Hedo this year we still have decided to be gone the next two week.
Saturday morning we are hooking up the trailer and heading to Las Vegas until next Friday and then off to Palm Springs for 7 days. Never been to Palm Springs, so I have the golf clubs in the pickup and I am going to try out some of those famous courses they have down there.
I will try to send some vacation pictures while we are on the road.
Just in case in don't get on line, I'll see you guys on the 15th. Be good.

Whatever you do in LV, do NOT waste your time or money on the Criss Angel show at the Luxor (if he's still there). Eight of us saw it last summer, and we all agreed that it sucked donkey ass.
Oh, and have a great trip!

Headed to Jamaica via Dallas first thing in the morning. Will stay in touch. I don't see how the people up north stand the winter. Texas is too cold for me this time of the year.

Enjoy your trip Tex, dont test that wifi system too much, there much better tings to do there. I am on the verge of "my booked month". 1) Leave Friday for Green Bay, where I will be the Stats Team Coordinator at the US National Men and Women's Curling Championships. The entire event will be webstreamed on www.tesn.us/ and NBC Sports network will be broadcasting the finals on Feb16. I get to be the "half-time" interviewee on the webstream for the game that starts 8pm CT on Sunday Feb 10, I'll be talking about the US College Curling Championships. 2) Home from Feb 17-19 3) Leave Feb 20 for Portage Wisconsin, where I will be playing in the US Seniors Championships. 4) Feb 25 Drive to Minneapolis. 5) Feb 26 Fly from MSP to Sochi Russia via NY JFK and Moscow SVO. From Feb 27 to March 7 I will be doing statistics at the World Junior Championships in Sochi. Sochi will host the '14 Olympics, and the World Juniors is the "test event". Sort of a dry run before the Olympics to make sure that facilities and organizers are ready or where improvements need to be made. Sochi is on the Black Seas and is almost sub-tropical in town where the indoor events will take place, I expect temps in the low-mid 60s. Back 30 miles inland, in the mountains, where the outdoor events will be, they will have snow aplenty. ANYWAYS, by doing this event, I will be qualified to return in '14 to do stats at the Olys. 6) Return to MSP on March 7. Drive to Duluth MN on March 8, where I am in charge of the US College Curling Championship. 7) Sunday March 10, return home exhausted.

Flew out this morning on a 5:30AM flight to New Orleans. Sitting in our French Quarter hotel catching up on some light work before heading out for some food and drinks.
Wedding day is Saturday afternoon for our son and his Russian bride to be. This will be a fun few days.
Our hotel was built in 1725 and was the first school in Louisiana.
