Guys, I am out of here tomorrow morning for a curling tournament, and perhaps my doom. The schedule I have doesnt list first names, but I am playing against one of these two brothers (who knows, maybe they are playing together on the same team) Link 1Link 2Maybe... just maybe, its someone else with the same last name, but I dont think so. IF by some miracle, we do win that game, we take on the winner of these two... Link 3Link 4Fools wander in where the curling angels fear to tread... usually for a good reason I will probably report the score about 1/2 hour into the game, as it should be over by then. G

Off to Colorado Springs via Denver first thing in the morning. Just a few days in the mountains to cool off.

Thanks, hot weather is a relative thing. It has been very pleasant in Austin for several days. We went to see Texas play New Mexico yesterday - the weather was perfect for football.

Southwest is known for quick turnaround time. Our flight is scheduled to arrive from Houston at 9:35 and depart for Denver at 10:00. The flight originated in Jackson so this is their 3rd flight this morning. They take good care of their passengers. Their gates in Austin have comfortable armchairs with plugs for computers. There is a stage in the gate with free concerts every day.

I haven't flown Southwest for 10 years. The last we did it was fom Oakland to Vegas and they herded us on there like cattle.

Maybe you'd be better off vacationing at the airport in Austin.

Sounds like a nice airport or at least better than any I ever been in.

Austin got lucky and was able to buy an old SAC base for their new airport. The city bit the bullet and shelled out big bucks for a beautiful terminal. It is well appointed and kept spotlessly clean. The food is good, parking cheap, it is close to downtown, and it has decent restaurants and provides live music. We would much rather fly from here than Dallas or Houston.

Imagine how much fun they would have if they held their curling meetings at the Austin airport.

I think they have some kind of curling club in Austin mainly for transplanted Yankees, but I would bet that many have never even seen it on television.

I've been a bit quiet on this here fine message board for the past few weeks due to moving house and a few other things I have had going on. So, after all that stress, I thought a last minute vacation would be in order and with Muslims around the world kicking off about America and its friends what better time could there be to pay a visit to Turkey, whose neighbours include Syria and Iraq. In fairness though Turkey is a very moderate Muslim country where you can drink, and not get stoned to death or beheaded for fingering a woman you aren't married to. Nevertheless, after a lot of thought I did decide not to pack my 'Allah is my bitch' t-shirt.
So tonight I am in Brighton on the south coast of England. It's one of my favourite places in the UK and only a short drive to the airport tomorrow morning for the four hour flight to Bodrum.
Back next Friday but who knows, I may be on here before then.
