We have a very small Sushi bar in town that has turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. It opened 3 years ago.
Each dish is artwork in appearance and the quality seems high, even the Asian salads are super. I try to drink the correct beverage with each style food (ex:Peroni with Italian) so I order Sapparo the Japanese beer but it turns out to be brewed in Canada.
Does anyone else enjoy Sushi?

I like Sushi. If you're eating out for lunch in the summer Sushi is great for a light meal when you don't want anything too heavy.

I can't eat Sushi because of the rice (I have to go low-carb), but someone recommended Sashimi might be a reasonable alternative -- I recently tried that and found it wasn't too bad (except now I have to master the whole chopsticks thing).
Instead of the Sapporo, have you tried sake?

It's a natural aphrodisiac too, given the silly connection of female privates to fresh fish.
I wind up just licking the salmon rolls after the third beer.

You have to see Geri try and eat an avocado and mango salad with chopsticks, she gets pissed and stabs the pieces of food. As long as the beer doesn't get knocked over...

Gaz, I'm not sure if you can buy it across the pond but Asahi is a popular Japanese beer here that you might also want to try. You find it in many Sushi restaurants, and lots of supermarkets carry it. It's dry and crisp... a pleasant enough beer but I wouldn't want to drink more than one. Simon

I'm not familiar with that brand but I'll ask for it. Trying different foods and brews is fun. Admittedly I can't seem to try the eel, which is on every page of the menu.

I like your selection Zil. I had a sushi entree called Spicy Lover, it was fantastic but I wasn't sure of all the ingredients. It was salmon (I think) and had unique qualities in that a bold spicy flavor was noticed after a slight delay of tasting it.

Those are my "standards", I usually like to share some other roll with someone, and sometimes I will have a small mackerel as my first piece, but damn, those are very fishy fish I haven't worked up the courage to eat urchin. It smells...yucky to me. Finishing up with a pearl sake (the drink not the fish) is nice too. While sushi *might* be an aphrodisiac, I am usually so uncomfortably full afterwards that there is no way I can put out For those of you who are all "Raw fish? YUCK!", quite a few sushi options are cooked, and some of it is even vegetarian. Zilla (who started drinking vodka tonics with my sushi when a sushi chef recommended it.)

I am a boring sushi eater - our grocery store makes it fresh at lunchtime and I just get a spicy tuna roll and a salmon roll a couple of times a week. I don't like cucumber which lots of rolls have, but the best is a sushi restaurant near my office where he makes me spicy tuna rolls with asperagus and avocado and fresh ponzu sauce which I love.
I was introduced to sushi on a first date many moons ago - he ordered a huge sampler and he made me try almost everything they served by not telling me what it was until I had a bite. The one I didn't like turned out to be the one I could identify - tamago (egg and rice).
I still can only manage chop sticks to eat sushi and have to use a fork for every thing else. It's definitely a skill I need to work on.

Anita, How do you buy your fish? I remember reading something about sushi grade fish, but I wasn't sure how to order it at the fish counter. H We go to China town early Saturday morning and get it FRESH! Sometimes we order it from the local independent market. The key is that it is no more than one day old. We have also had it for lunch at Hedo when Art has caught tuna that morning.
