We tried to buy tickets for the 4 of us to go, but with the boys being under 21 it was a No can do. SO, we braved it on the streets, but NEVER AGAIN! It was as if that City was doing this for the first time. SO disorganized, Such a Cluster F**K. Herding people like cattle into cages where they would be virtually stuck for 11-12 hours, with no bathroom facilities, no food, no beverages, not even water. WTF were they thinking. Where did they THINK people were going to piss? Some of us had the decency to leave the zoo, and go use proper facilities at the price of not being allowed back in. Mardi Gras in New Orleans was run more efficiently than That place, and Mardi Gras was a mess, but at least you could PAY to go indoors and use facilities, rather than exposing yourself to piss in a bottle, piss in the streets, or piss in a DIAPER you had on. All I can say is it is surely different live than they ever show on TV.

Muffy, great photos and report. I'm adverse to big crowds and don't even like to go to concerts anymore. I was lucky enough to experience Mardi Gras the year before Katirena...BUT I was in a terrace room for $200 with about 20 of my Hedo friends which was out of the street crowd and a blast. I'd consider NYE in NY under the same conditions but I'd never do the street.

I don't have a problem with crowds, but what Muffy has described is my idea of hell on earth. The waiting around for hours and hours in a huge crowd would be arduous enough, but to have no access to food, water and any kind of bathroom facilities is just unbelievable!! Count me out.

I was dumb enough to go for a 4th of July into the city one year. I am glad I did - I learned never to go for any other occasion. i am sure that disaster was nothing compared to New Years.
