Just went online and bought tickets for Nationals - Marlins in Miami for the first 3 games coming out of the All Star break. Odds have to be in my favor that the kid starts one of these games. It will be fun.

This thread has gotten a little rusty so I thought I would see if we can get it going again.
110 games into the season and we have some real live division race going on this year,
NL East: Has Atlanta coming out of no where and leading with the Phillies chasing and the Mets quickly fading. The Cubs are fading fast as Lou finishes out his final season.
NL Central: Has the Big Red Machine making a bid for the title and the Cardinals trying to keep up.
NL West. Has the Padres surprisingly hold the division lead with the Giants on the chase and the Rockies and Dodgers trying not to fall out of the race..
Al East: The Yankee's and the Ray's fighting it out for first with the Red Sox's trying to hang on through a steady stream of injuries to key players.
AL Central: Ozzy has his White Sox on the top of the heap with the Twins in chase and the Tigers slowly dwindling away.
AL West: The Rangers have taken a demanding 8.5 game lead over the A's & Angels with 52 to play. It might be their year to run away with.
Many surprises this year in the division races. Lets see who mmakes it during the dog days of summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mets were bound to fade because they were playing way over their head for a while there. I am now rooting for the Reds because I'd like to see how this guy Votto does in the post-season. The Reds might be the dark horse team this year; I wouldn't be surprised to see a Reds vs. Yanks World Series.

That would be a good series.
I really think the Yanks will win the AL again, and I also think that Atlanta is for real. With Bobby Cox retiring after this season that would be great way for his team to send him off.
Of course we are hoping that the Giants make it but I think they are a littles shakey.

Joe, It looks like the Padres are doing everything they possibly can to hand the division over to the Giants.

The wheels have come of of the San Deigo bus big time. The problem is the Giants have 7 more games against them and but our record sucks 2 for 9.

The Twin are the first to clinch a division and a playoff spot. 3 to go in Al and all 4 NLspots are still up for grabs.

The Twins have the best record in baseball since the All-Star break and should be a serious contender for the Series

Gardenhire for manager of the year.

Gardenhire for manager of the year. In the AL yes he deserves it. In the NL I say Bud Black from the Padres. Win or lose they have gone farther than they said they would. San Diego was picked to finish dead last in the NL West. Joe

The way the Yanks have been playing down the stretch, I doubt they'll make it beyond the first round, regardless of whether they win the division or are a Wild Card team.

Their pitching SUCKS

I agree -- even Mariano Rivera hasn't been his usual reliable self lately. After CC Sabathia, they don't have much in the way of starters, especially if Pettitte doesn't resume his early - season form.

My money is on a repeat of the series from a couple of years ago with the Phillies and Rays. If this comes to pass then the pitching match ups will be outstanding

Rays win. Rays in as at least a Wild Card.

Yeah, but it's not going to be about who's got the best pitching; it's going to be about whose pitching sucks least.

Joe, I agree with all of your selections except one. The Twins are too hot right now to lose the first series.. unless, and only unless the series goes the full distance. When it gets down to one game anyone can take it... but I say Twins in 4

Mexican Train? Is that the nickname of some minor league phenom they're calling up?

Calling up a minor league phenom at this point in the season... very timely of the Mets!

I cannot believe the Rays pulled the afternoon game tomorrow. Looks like streaming video on the computer at work for me. That is unless the game is excellent and then it is a 45 second drive to the house to watch the rest of it on the big screen.
