Well pitchers and catchers started training camp at 11 clubs today. I am really looking forward to this MLB season.
Denice and I sat down the other night and purchased tickets for the top 8 Giant games that we want to attend this season and then we have our list of the other 12 to 15 that we want to go to if our schedule permits.( plus my son-in-laws family has season tickets so we usually pick up 2 or 3 more games there)
Our first game is April 10th. We will get to see Tim Lincecum awarded with his second Cy Young Award that night.
Early season predictions. World Series Yankees-Cardinals.

With Granderson moving from Detroit to the Yanks, I cant argue the AL side of your pick Joe... Detroit's chances are pretty long now.

I am really looking forward to this MLB season. After the way the last few seasons have gone for the Mets, I'm definitely NOT looking forward to this year -- sad, too, because it's the first time in a long time I can recall feeling this way. I'm definitely not turning into a Yankee fan, but I do hope they repeat.

You can have all the pitching you want (Lincecum, Cain, Zito) but if you can't hit the fucking ball why show up. Joe.

The Mets did NOTHING during the offseason to acquire pitching. Maybe we should trade? Who would you take for Zito?

Barry Zito is a first class gentleman. He is never rude during interviews, and every time we have gone to a Giants game when is not pitching he always stops and signs autographs for the kids, no one else on the team does that.
Unfortunately his pitching has been off the last couple of years. I really think he is a better AL pitcher than NL pitcher.
How about Jason Bay for Barry Zito straight up. We need a good hitting left fielder. You call the Mets and I will call the Giants and we can tell them we made the trade.

Me too, also I have been enjoying the Olympics and looking forward to MARCH MADNESS!!!
Since the White Sox's have built up their arsenal during the off season, I'm predicting a cross town World Series in Chicago, come October.
psssst..... Cubs in 6.
I know the feeling too well. When the Cubs lost the NLCS in 84 to San Diego. I quit watching baseball for six years. At least you have a World Series win. Something Cub fans don't.
Me thinks, the White Sox's and Yankee's will be in the ALCS, come September. (White Sox in 7)
psssst....... When you got a hunch bet a bunch!!!!
DeRosa is a great utility man. Cubs traded him, to make room for Milton Bradley last season, which ended up to have been a BIG mistake.
I can't count the times sitting in PNC park with a Cub lead and along comes Jason Bay to take it away.

After complaining about Zito's pitching performance the past few seasons, you want Bay? Tell you what. We'll see how well Carlos Beltran comes back from his off - season knee surgery ... if you like him, then maybe we can make a deal.

Ahhh, spring training, the time when hope is renewed, skills are honed, and those extra pounds gained over the winter are shed before they become embarrassing... hopefully

We attended our first two games last week. Thursday night we seen the Gianst get their asses kicked 9 to 1 by the A's in a preseason game. It was a cold night at the park.
Sunday we seen Seattle in the last preseason game beat the Giants 7 to 1 in a rain shortened 6 inning game. So far they are 0-2 when we go.
This coming Saturday Denice and I are taking our two daughters and son-in-law to the night opener at AT&T Park. We will also get to see Tim Lincecum get his second Cy Young Award.
If they lose again with me their, they may not want me to come back the rest of the season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday night we drove over and hit the Trop for our first regular season game of 2010. David Price threw an awesome game and the Rays pounded the Yankees. I am glad we picked Friday over Saturday since CC had a no hitter through 8 2/3 and it was the Rays turn to be pounded.
I still think the Trop is the worst major league stadium I have ever been in but it is growing on me a little. The sight lines are actually pretty decent to watch a game.

We went to our first regular season game Saturday night. We watched the Atlanta Braves beat us for our first lost of the season 7-2. It was cold and windy as always.

BTW, when Granderson hit a homerun for the Yanks to help beat the Red Sox last week, the Yanks' local radio announcer John Sterling (whom many rightly regard as an immense douchebag) started calling him "The Grandy Man" (as in the old song "The Candy Man"). His call on the homer was "The Grandy Man CAN!". One of many reasons to catch Yankee games on their TV channel rather than radio.

We are lucky out here for radio announcers. We have Jon Miller on the radio except for Sundays when he is doing ESPN and his side kick Dave Fleming call a hell of a game of baseball.
Our TV announcers are Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow. Best in the business.

Anybody else watch Strasburg throw last night for the Nationals? It was truly incredible and had me thinking back to my younger days and watching Koufax out there. We shall see how he holds up over the long term.
I already went to the schedule and see that Washington comes out of the All Star break with a 3 game series in Miami. I am thinking chances are good that he should throw one of those days.

All I can say is Mark "The Bird" Fydrich. A LOT of one year phenoms who fail after a year or two. It would be interesting to have a truly legendary pitcher again.
