Too bad we don't get HBO, we get to watch it through the movienetwork, a Canadian pay per view station.
Just can't wait to see how the rivalry between Tony and Johnny Sack will play out ~ wonder if it'll be Tony's undoing (what with the series ending next seaon, which could be in 3 years at the rate they shoot!)

Just can't wait to see how the rivalry between Tony and Johnny Sack will play out ~ wonder if it'll be Tony's undoing Apparently, he starts out the season in prison. From what I've heard, it's actually Silvio who tries to make a break away from Tony in one of the early episodes. (what with the series ending next seaon, which could be in 3 years at the rate they shoot!) Big article on this in this past Sunday's New York Times -- apparently, the last season is being shot concurrently with season six. The last season will be a short one -- only 8 episodes rather than 13 -- so you could either say the final season is season 7 or season six and a half! The final season is supposed to start airing in January of 2007.

I suspect both shows' producers were "encouraged" by execs at HBO.

OK, just watched the season opener -- OUT-FUCKING-STANDING! Wow! What a way to start the season! Those last 10 minutes were incredibly intense. If the rest of the episodes these next couple of months are as good as this one, we're certainly in for quite a ride ...

Yep, you sure got that right. For all the grumbling I do about having to wait so long between seasons, I have to admit, when he winds up turning out work like this, it's definitely worth the wait.

Isn't is amazing that Chase can make you (well, me anyways) feel sorry for a guy who kills innocent people when told to, when he can't "retire" from his job! I was on tenderhooks all episode expecting him to be killed by one of Tony's guys, just didn't expect how he actually went............David Chase is a creative genius and I am already lamenting the fact that this show will be done by this time next year.............say it ain't so, Dave!

One of the local NYC papers published a spoiler to the 1st episode, which I avoided reading for the same reason I avoid the Sopranos message boards -- I like being surprised by the creativity in the writing.

Another fantastic episode last night ~ the only downside is that there was so much going on, I'm going to have to watch at least one more time and probably twice more this week to make sure I got it all! Edie Falco was amazing!

I agree Jo, it was fabulous. That is one episode that you could easily watch twice to try to pick up on all the little hidden messages peppered within. It took me a minute to realize what they were doing when the show opened. Loved the perspective!

Just finished watching tonight's episode................I can't believe the season is almost over already. It's been a more introspective season this year, with very in-depth character development, and some people have been disappointed in the lack of "action" but it is still the best fucking show on TV, IMHO. Writing and acting still superb, and our whole family watches with baited breath throughout every show, not making a peep lest we miss something. Outstanding...............................JO

Working in NYC, I have run into several of the cast members over the past few years: - Saw Gandolfini at Carnegie Hall for a Tony Bennett concert a few years back
- Edie Falco - I held the door open for her as she was entering the Starbucks near where I work (Times Square area)
- Yesterday morning while walking from the subway to my office, I passed Steven Schirripa (Bobby Baccala) strolling up 8th Avenue
Jo, your comments on this series echo my sentiments exactly. I will truly miss this show when it goes off the air early next year.

Well, I am torn between anticipation of this Sunday's season finale and sadness that the show is on its last legs. After this Sunday there will be an interminable wait until the shortened last season beginning in January. What the hell am I supposed to look forward to every Sunday from now until January? I was lost last Sunday with no new Soprano episode and I dread the final show, knowing that no matter how brilliant it will be (and it will, have no fear!) it will be the LAST ONE!! I still miss Six Feet Under and now the thought of no more Sopranos to look forward to, ever, is already making me very sad.
Jo (I know, what a sad little life I lead!!)

Well, if you don't care for HBO's reruns of this season and the DVD's won't suffice, there's always the Sopranos Message Board -- I think you can link to it from the HBO site.

Season 6 has ended with more of a thud than a bang, which (I guess) accounts for the absence of posts here about the last episode.

yeah, I was a little disappointed, but I guess David Chase is keeping the fireworks for January. I did think Christopher was gonna get whacked sometime during the episode and keep cringing every time he had a scene with the Marguiles chick ~ is it now, is it this time, etc.
Let the countdown begin (again!)

The thing about this season's last episode is that it didn't really "feel" like a season-ending episode. In years past, the season-ender really left you wondering what was going to happen next; this one felt more like it was just setting you up for the final "half-season" more than anything else.
