Check out British vocalist Lily Allen. Fresh sound, different from U.S. pop. I particularly like the song "smile". www.lilyallenmusic.com/

Gary! sometimes i think you do this intentionally.
a very amusing sound. i like that she sings in sharps. she has the charming "not quite in key" sound that i find so appealing in astrud gilberto (even though astrud was a much smoother more melancholy sound)

Thanks Zil! I'm taking your post as a compliment. The only thing I do on purpose is share. The music I listen to is "below the radar" of mainstream but high in quality. (to me)
I love British accents too. I have one! Not many people know or realize this.

I pick up southern accents (like Georgia or Louisiana) and British accents when i am around them. southern accents are easier for me since i lived in texas. all i have to do is talk to a southerner on the phone and by the end of it i've got all kinds of twangs that i didn't have at the start of the conversation. it takes about 3 days in the UK before i start picking that one up.
oooooo, you have one? talk to me, baby, talk to me!

I was going to post something on here about Lily Allen a while ago, but she had not broken in the US and I didn't think her musical style would cross over very well. I was wrong it seems. Lily is the daughter of one of my favourite British actors Keith Allen, but in only a few months she has become more famous than her dad who has also released a couple of records in the past. www.myspace.com/lilymusicwww.Lilyallenmusic.comSimon

Smile has a bit of a reggae feel to it - no wonder you like it!!
Colleen (<---- who loves British accents too but doesn't want to rain on Zilla's parade...I have to admit I like Australian ones just as much....I suppose I'd better add Scottish ones in there too or my brother in law/sister's family will disown me... ;D )

I have to admit I like Australian ones just as much.... So do I. There was an Australian couple at Hedo III in May, he could have been Russell Crowe's twin brother, and she was extremely pretty and had the sweetest sexy accent. Every time she spoke every guy around would be listening to her every word. Simon

Colleen! Stop that! i won't get upset because you admit to liking accents too. think of me as a Share-Monster Sharing is good! And i agree, austrailian accents, scottish accents, irish accents, and kiwi accents are all very good too. i'm not as infatuated with italian, french or german accents though. don't know why, i'm just not. Zilla (who listens to virgin radio when she needs a brit fix) some days you just can't spell infatuated correctly the first time

I love British accents, Australian and southern U.S. dialects. (and southern derelict women)
My accent is really sexy. You have to hear me leave out vowels and crush whole sentences into one word. Soooo sexy. Or shall I say "Soooosexymynewyorkflection".

Simon,
I promise to y'all you to death - I used to say that a lot and didn't know it but when we moved to Utah for a few years when I was in Jr. High the kids teased me so I quit using it. I usually say "you guys" instead - from my days in glorious old Utah...

Simon, I promise to y'all you to death I think y'all is a beautiful word. I'd like to be able to use it here but people would look at me like I just stepped off the marian shuttle, then chase me up a tree and set fire to it!! Simon
