Simon had her a couple of years ago. I don't think she was picked last year or this year. And she was really an obvious choice. Sort of like Harvey Korman.

Amy Winehouse was a favorite for a few fans in years past, but she put on a bold attempt detox and lulled us into a false sense that she had abandoned her destructive ways... I hadnt been paying attention, but I guess the past month or so was a wild ride again. Harvey Korman is dead?
Edited: Simon may be pissed about this, I know she was a favorite of his in this department.

I played her for several years in the past, but gave up on her as an underachiever. Nobody (on this board) had her this year. By the by, croaking at the age of 27 puts her in some pretty famous company: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27_Club

Getting back to Amy Crackhouse, now sources are saying that the cause of her death may be "alcohol withdrawal." That is, she tried to stop drinking, and her body couldn't take the sobriety. Alcohol is truly a chemically addictive substance, not just psychological, and one that can be dangerous to stop suddenly. I don't know how many people actually die from going cold turkey, but it is certainly a shock to the system. If this is the case, it is one of the most ironic deaths in recent memory! www.mtv.com/news/articles/1668182/amy-winehouse-alcohol-withdrawal.jhtml

She didn't die from "withdrawal" from alcohol. That's not to say she might have vapor locked from complicating factors from OTHER issues associated with suddenly stopping all ETOH. Reports I read had her buying drugs and using heavily a day or so before she locked up. One can reformat only so many times. .............Bob

He was a beast. He ruined his knee making a tackle near the sidelines and getting wrapped up with the down and distance chain guys. He was never the same football player after that.

If that's how you feel about it, may the Schwartz be with you. Yes Yogurt You may find this surprising, but I had never actually seen "Spaceballs" until tonight. Yes, I knew all the references, because they are hard to avoid, but I had never watched the actual movie until it popped up on WGN tonight. And I have to say, it really, really, REALLY sucked! I mean, Mel Brooks has made some brilliant films. Blazing Saddles, The Twelve Chairs, Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, etc., were all brilliant. But this one really, really sucked moose balls! Okay, rant over. I just wish I could get those two hours back.......Jake

If you look at Brooks career as a director that movie reinforced his decline following History of the World, Part I. He had come off his classics up to Silent Movie (which was a bit weak) then had one more classic, High Anxiety. HOTW was a classic turkey then Spaceballs came along and the golden age of Mel Brooks directed movies was over.
Dont know why this movie didnt click, it was a great premise and he had the talent. But even Rick Moreno and John Candy couldnt save Spaceballs. My personal theory is that the parody was too focused on one movie rather than an entire genre or the entire works of a predecessor, or maybe he just didnt have the connection to the work he was using as the source of the parody.
Ive watched it twice, the second time to confirm that I didnt miss something the first time around. So I have two more hours than you that I wish I had back, dont make the same mistake... still looking forward to the next airing of Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein.

Yeah, as a parody, it was poorly structured. It left out huge elements of Star Wars (where was Luke? Where was Obi Wan?), yet it roped in stuff that WASN'T in the movie (Yoda didn't appear until ESB). The only redeeming value was John Candy, who is funny no matter what he does.
The other problem is that it came out TEN YEARS after Star Wars! I'm sure it was considered stale the minute it hit the theaters.

But even Rick Moreno and John Candy couldnt save Spaceballs. Rick Moranis or Rita Moreno? Rick Moranis was Dark Helmet in Spaceballs. Rita Moreno, she like to be in America, OK by me in America.
