I had the opportunity to attend the Red Sox v. Yankees game last night at Fenway Park. The guest of honor at this game was Capt. Richard Phillips. He was there to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Capt Phillips was adorned in a Red Sox Jersey with his name on the back, and the number 09. He Threw the ball pretty well making it all the way to George Kottaras the sox back up catcher. I can honestly say the roar for Capt. Phillips rivaled the roar for Jacoby Ellsbury in his first at bat after the steal of home.
I for one found it to be an honor to have the opportunity to cheer for this guy. Tom Werner the second owner of the sox had invited Philips after finding out that Phillips met his wife in front of Fenway years ago. The way I heard the story the asked Phillips if he wanted to play 3rd base for an inning or two.
All of this was very cool. Sweeping the Yanks out of town...ever cooler.
God bless you Capt.
