Personally I think Dallas made mistake letting him go. He has been there most productive receiver for the past 3 years.

He just pissed-off too many people in that organization, between coaches, players and other staff. Dallas probably sees it as addition by subtraction and I can't blame them.

I saw that the trade had been done. And Tampa Bay is getting Kellen Winslow. If he stays healthy, that will be a big plus. But an era has come to an end with who my family calls "MISTER" Derric Brooks.

I played football for many, many years and coached football for many, many years. I was fortunate to play with great players and I was also very fortunate to coach some great players and fine young men. I know what it's like to play ball with an ego maniac and later on coach those types of athletes. I am well aware that Pro ball is a business but the TO type of guy isn't financially worth the problems he brings to the team. No matter his personal production, he will keep the team in an uproar, he will always have controversy around him and he is all about himself. If a coaching staff doesn't handle these guys just right then the team becomes divided and the coaching staff can become divided. Most Pro ball players and Pro coaches are mature men who can deal with the TO type of player within the organization, but even they can be affected by the constant turmoil and eventually the team members start bickering among themselves and a team division is just a matter of time. With the baggage he brings to the organization and all by himself he can keep a team out of payoffs and cost the organization huge amounts of money in the long run.

I put up with this guy for 8 years in SF. When they traded him it was Thank You God. Big problem with that, we haven't had a decent receiver since. He might be, well he is an asshole, but this asshole is a winner.
Jones wants another Super Bowl so bad he can taste it. Pushing TO out the door without a decent replacement ( a 1000 yard receiver) was not the way to do it. If Buffalo goes to the playoffs next year and Dallas doesn't you may see Jones shoot himself.
Dallas problem besides their owner is Romo Romo is more of a problem than TO was. He can win in the early part of the season with ease but when crunch time get here he sucks. The dumb shit is a loser. Romo is not going to win Dallas a Super Bowl. TO made Romo look good at times.
Joe.

If SF hasn't had a good receiver in all the years since then it ain't because TO left, something like that is due to poor draft choices and trades which is poor management. In the years since TO left SF there have been plenty of receivers coming out of college or already in the pros that produce on the field and winners without being an asshole.

Let me rephrase my statement Steve. SF hasn't had a Super Star Receive since TO left. Yes there has been some good receivers out of college but no Super Stars have landed here. Yes it could be bad draft choices. I do feel that there are not that many above average receivers coming out of college right now.

Rumor has it Jeffrey Alan Samardzija would have been a super star wide receiver coming out of Notre Dame a few years back, but opted to go with pitching for the Cubs. I'm glad he did. He is a hell of an athlete. psssst.... Another shinning star form NWI chicago.cubs.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=502188

Joe Auburn sure hasn't put any receivers in the Pros lately but maybe SF could have traded for at least one good one.
