Denice and I did sort of a road trip last Tuesday night as we travel to Oakland to watch the Giants play the A's at the Oakland Coliseum. It is the first time I have been there since 1974. The place is old and shows it( we are spoiled with AT@T Park) but it was still a good game. We got to watch Tim Lincecum pitch a complete game, fan 12 A's and shut them down. We head back to AT@T Park on July 3rd to watch the Astro's and then after the game the annual fireworks show. On July 21st we will be in NYC and have tickets to the Yankee's and new Yankee Stadium. We are really looking forward to that. Here is a picture from one of our games this year. Denice is making up a photo album of the 2009 season and our trips to the yard. This was taken at 5:30PM at the Park. It was freezing then at the game was still over and hours away. If you ever make a night game( and some day games) at AT@T remember to bring warm clothing. I don't care what time of year it is the place is just plain ass cold. Joe

I never had a chance to see a game at Candlestick, but I heard the same was true there. I remember seeing players on the bench wearing parkas and gloves and wrapped in blankets.

AT@T is a little better. The wind at the Stick was worse than it is now.

Just got back from a Miami trip to see the Marlins and Phillies. Saturday night was a rain out after two and Sunday was a day game so it was hotter then hell.
This was the first time we ever had seats at field level behind home plate. You know those ones right behind the screen where the clowns sit there on their cell phones and waive to the camera. It was really a great way to watch the games. Some of the players actually make small talk with you while they are in the on deck circle. And you can easily see into and hear what is going on in the dugout. I was spoiled. It was an awesome way to watch a game. And best of all, the tickets were comped.
The other great thing was you have to go through the Marlins business office lobby to get under the stadium and up to this small section of seats. In the lobby they had both the 97 and 03 world championship trophies on display. I had never seen one close up and they were fascinating.

Denice and I just got home from a Giants a game. A 2 to 0 victory over the Rockies and our 17th game of the season. We have tickets for 3 more games if I am not knee deep in grape juice on those dates.
For the first time in all the times that I have gone to a Giants game at night, I did not have to put on my sweat shirt and/or Jacket. We actually sat there sweating during the whole game. It was 79 degrees at AT&T Park on the edge of bay. No fog, no wind, no cold, no running for coffee or hot chocolate. The weather reminded me of the game we went to at Yankee Stadium last month.
We are due back for our next night game on September 12th and I bet we will freeze our asses off. Cold or not the fucking Dodgers will be in town so that takes some of the bite out of it.
Anyhow it is great to be in the middle of a playoff race for the first time in 5 years. We are 2 games behind the Rockies for the NL wild card spot and with a little luck might just make it.

Me thinks the White Sox are out. They lost their last 9 out of 10 and dealt Contreras to LA and Thome to Colorado. Two good players that the folks out west hasn't seen much of. (especially national league) I'm looking for a Cubs/Giants wild card showdown in San Francisco, and then a Cubs (via wild card)/ Detroit World Series Cubs win in 7. YA MON!!!!! ) Won't be long Joe and it will be San Francisco here we come!!!!!! psssst...... GO GO CUBBIES!!!!!!!!

This last end of the season they have 7 against Milwaukee, 3 against the-inevitable-2009-world-champion-Cardinals, and 4 against San Fran. The chance of them moving DOWN is much more likely than moving up. I don't look for them to finish any better than 3rd in the division.

I think the six current division leaders will hold their leads for the remainder of the season and win their divisions.
As of 9/2
AL East-- NY Yankees 7.5 game lead AL Central--Detroit 4.5 games lead AL WEST- LA Angeles 3.5 game lead
NL East-- Phila 7.5 game lead NL Central-- STL 10.5 game lead NL west-- LA Dodgers 4.5 game lead.
AL Wild Card------------- Boston NL Wild Card------------ Rockies (I hate to say it but the Giants have no hitting at times)
Joe.(who will pull for the Rockies if they beat out the Giants during the playoffs)
