I have had this software as my wallpaper for several years now, and it just got better. Desktop Earth shows a map of the earth and illuminates where it is currently day/night. They use different backgrounds for each month to simulate the progressions of the seasons. What is new is the cloud cover. In the past, they had a static overlay of clouds, but with their latest update, they now load up a reasonably current mosaic of cloud cover from weather satellites. LinkBTW- they have the most straightforward guarantee of any software source Ive seen (just below the "download" link), I have never had any problems with the software.

Cool program, Gordon. I'm always looking at the "greyline," that portion of the Earth between light and dark. I use that for some ham radio reasons. Neat display!

That is a cool idea for a wallpaper.
However, it suffers the same problem that all wallpapers do: I never see it! I generally have at least half a dozen (and usually more) programs running, and never bother to minimize them. The only time I see my wallpaper is when I reboot, which is almost never.....Jake
