Hazel and I had lunch today at a new joint in the neighborhood called "The Counter Burger." Basically, it is an upscale burger joint with thousands of choices for your burger. It is also kind of spendy; two burgers, two sodas, and an order of onion strings was about $30. But it was very tasty. When you sit down, they give you a clipboard with a menu. You check off your choices: burgers of beef, turkey, or veggie. And your choice of third-pound, two-third pound, of a full pound. And many choices of toppings, of cheese, and of sauces. They claim there are over 300,000 different combinations, which is easy to believe. It is a chain, with more locations in California than anywhere else, but spreading across the USA. There are also locations in Ireland, and who knows where else they will pop up. Quite upscale, so I wouldn't recommend it for late night drunken munchies or for those on a budget. But for an upscale lunch, or to impress a date, it's not a bad choice at all......Jake www.thecounterburger.com/

We have a place called IN and OUT burger here. You have a choice of regular burger with or without cheese, or a deluxe urger with or with out cheese. Large or small fry and coke or diet coke. That's it.

I've been to In-N-Out Burger in California. Nice, tasty, and cheap. Kind of reminds me of White Castle. Their bumper stickers are famous nation-wide......Jake

If it's *really* like White Castle, the name In & Out Burger describes its rapid passage through your digestive tract.

That's it. Joe Anytime we travel to CA there is only one must do item on my list every time and that is a trip to In-N-Out Burger. I have been known to go many miles out of my way on my last night in LA to satisfy the urge. Just the thought of a double double with cheese makes my my knees start to shake a little

Tucson has two In-N-Out Burger joints. When the first one opened, they sold over 10,000 burgers the first week. There were cops directing traffic and the drive thru line took over an hour. I order a Double-Double Animal style and fries well done. Secret Menu

Yeah but can you get a five dollar shake? In case anyone doesn't get it, this is a "Pulp Fiction" reference. Bravo! When that movie first came out (1994, I think?) the thought of a five dollar milkshake was ludicrous. Now, of course, it is so prosaic that the movie line makes you go, "Huh? What's so odd about that?"
