Spore, one of the most hyped computer games ever has hit the market. Several years in the making Spore allows you to play God, and direct the evolution of your creature form the primordial ooze to interstellar traveler. Along the way, you can link to the internet and see how well your "species" competes against other creatures created and uploaded by other Spore players. Thats the official line. The reviews I have read have been mixed. In my mind this seems to be the "Windows Vista" of the gaming world, promising much, years behind schedule, and repeatedly compromised before release. Ive been interested in this release for a couple years, but now, I am taking a wait and see before putting down my $50. Anyone else following this, or has someone purchased it? Edited: Oh BTW--- "purchase" is the wrong word. One of the "features" of Spore is that it is constrained by DRM activation limits. You can activate the program only 3 times for that $50, after that you have to buy an additional activation. And if Electronic Arts (EA) ever goes out of business, you are screwed. On Amazon, it is current the #1` selling video game, with over 800 reviews that average 1.5 starts out of 5.

Actually I bought it the day it came out....it is definitely fun. However, I can see getting bored with certain areas of the game. The creature creator is actually very good as well as the game play itself. I see many expansions in the future. One of the areas that seems a bit boring is the early stages, not much to do as a single celled creature....lol eat and mate....wait...this is a Hedo crowd...NVM, you will love the game!!
