Actually, the broader question is, what's your favorite browser, and why? And should I be using it instead of what I'm using now? I noticed on our web statistics page here: counter44.bravenet.com/index.php?id=386278&type=browser&usernum=3722020918that 4.62 percent of our visitors are using the Safari browser. Who is it? I'm guessing Robin Hood or Gordon or maybe both. Personally, I just upgraded to Firefox 3, since I read so many good things about it. I haven't noticed any serious differences, except that it gives you the option of remembering all your tabs when you shut it down, which is nice. Also some cosmetic ch-ch-changes to the Forward and Back buttons. Any other favorite browser thoughts out there?.......Jake

I use Safari for most of my non-work stuff. It has some issues. There will be times when it will pull up a page, but thinks it hasn't finished so you are unable to do anything until you kill the whole process and start again.
Firefox is my favorite, but I haven't bucked up the courage to try Chrome yet.
Zilla (who thinks that as often as I visit the site that full 4.62% is probably me)

So Zilla, why do you use Safari in the first place? Especially if it has issues. It must have some advantage that outweighs them.
I've been curious about Chrome, too. Anyone using it? It isn't even listed yet in our statistics page.....Jake (who obviously was wrong in his predictions about our Safari Surfer)

I've been using Chrome for the past 2 days. It's very fast, but I'm not 100% sure I'll stick with it.

I have Safari on my laptop but other than a quick play around with it I've never really used it and don't think I've ever looked at TNMC with it.
I upgraded to Firefox 3 the other day. It's great but it lost my Flash plug-in and it took days before I could successfully reinstall it. I mentioned this to a web developer I use at work and he said had the same problem.
I also downloaded Chrome the other day. As Beeb says, it's very fast, but maybe a little too featureless for my liking, but I can see myself learning to like it once I've played with it a bit more. One thing I'm not sure I like though is that, according to my web developer, it reports all your online activities back to Google unless you seek out and find the various options to 'opt out' of.

Chrome users might account for some (if not all) of the 2.5% Unknown Browser users in the counter's stats.

. .....I upgraded to Firefox 3 the other day......Me too. Ever since I did, the TNMC posts all have bold white lines above and below them. It was disconcerting at first, but I've gotten used to it. I haven't noticed any other websites looking different, though.......Jake

So Zilla, why do you use Safari in the first place? Especially if it has issues. It must have some advantage that outweighs them. Originally it worked *really* well, its just over time it has developed this odd quirk. I still use it because it has all my bookmarks. I haven't switched away from it entirely yet because I like having a entirely different browser for my play as opposed to work. For me it makes it easier to grab what I want (whether it be a work thing or a play thing), thus being more efficient. Zilla (see, it wasn't a geek at all who was using it ;D)

I would love to say that Im still using Netscape. Even though Mozilla took them over, I have always had the feeling that they are trying to make Firefox more like IE than Netscape. Using Firefox 3 now, I have IE on the desktop (in case I run into a webpage the DEMANDS IE (there are still a few around).
Given the comments here, I may give Chrome a try.

I haven't noticed any other websites looking different, though I get that too since I upgraded. It annoyed me for a few days but now I don't think about it. I wondered whether this was a feature that the previous version of Firefox wasn't displaying for some reason as these lines also appear when I view the board in IE. Simon

I upgraded to Firefox 3 shortly before installing Chrome and noticed the lines in both Firefox *and* Chrome. Although I never use IE to view this board (use that for work - related stuff only), I *did* once try Safari and noticed the lines there, too, I believe.

Ok, I just remembered that I occasionally look at the board on my i-Pod touch, which uses Safari, so I've contributed to the 4.62 Safari using visitors.

I do not like Safari, I am usually visiting TNMC from a Linux machine running Firefox or a Windows Box with Firefox.
