Okay, all you Excel jockeys out there (Gordon? TexJohn? BB?), here's a question. I've got a spreadsheet that calculates means and standard deviations of large bunches of experimental data and displays them in several columns. Now I want to manipulate those means and standard deviations into a further analysis.
I want to copy the numbers to another sheet, but I do NOT want to copy the formulas that generated them. I just want to copy them as literal numbers, as if I had typed them in myself.
Is there any way to do that, short of retyping them all myself? Thanks, anyone......Jake

I dont use Excel, but in Quattro Pro that is very easy, highlight the cells of interest, then Edit>Convert to Values, and bam its done. Whatever the result of any calculation that was in the cell(s) in question becomes a number(s), and the formula in that cell is overwritten.
Surely Excel must have something similar.

When you do a Paste in Excel, you have the option of doing Values Only -- this allows you to Paste the output of the formula without the cell containing the formula itself. You need to use Paste Special instead of just the regular Paste in order to do this.

Thanks, gang. I tried the suggestions and you are all exactly correct. I knew this resource would come through.
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten back to this project yet as Hazel dragged me off to the bedroom. No, not for that. We had to hang some shelves and put in a new light switch......Jake (whose home is barely recognizable) (but in a good way, mind you)

You all made the mistake of thinking his scatological proclivities outweighed his geekiness. Rookie error......Jake (it takes a geek to know a geek)
