Hedonism Resorts are having a drawing for a 4-night vacation at one of their resorts at One Eyed Jack’s Saloon on the last night of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Saturday, August 9. As part of this promotion, along with the trip give-away they are also bringing in Hedonism Resort entertainment staff to help entertain the patrons at One Eyed Jack’s Saloon during the last three nights of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on the nights of August 7 - 9.
Anyone in the area should stop by for a Hedonism Resort mini-reunion and sign up for the drawing.

Spam in general is very popular in Hawaii. I've heard it explained this way: Cannibalism used to be rampant among the indigenous peoples of the area, until Christian missionaries disabused them of the practice. However, Spam is alleged to taste a lot like human flesh. Hence, it appeals to some innate, buried sense of delicacy within those with a large percentage of Hawaiian blood.
I don't know if this is true or not, but it's a good story (I read it in a book by Paul Theroux)

I don't know if this is true or not, but it's a good story (I read it in a book by Paul Theroux) While there is a Hawaiian legend pertaining to cannibalism, its unlikely that it was a form of sustenance for the common man. "There is no evidence that cannibalism was ever practiced in Hawaii, nor says Fornander, in the Society Islands. Among the Tongans the practice is said to be exceptional. But in the Fiji and the Marquesas [Islands], in New Zealand, [and] to some extent in Samoa, the custom prevailed" (Beckwith. "Hawaiian Shark Aumakua" 510). As the story of O'ahunui makes clear, cannibalism was abhorrent to Hawaiians; the practice is attributed to intruders from the South Pacific; but even in the South Pacific, the practice was a part of ritualized warfare rather than for daily nourishment or feasting." - apdl.kcc.hawaii.edu/~oahu/stories/waialua/oahunui.htmAloha, Paul Theroux, an outstanding writer, is also a fiction writer who loves to incorporate fiction into actual locations such as Hawai'i among others, also because he lives here. Hawaiians were never cannibals. It has been said that the Hawaiians ate Captain Cook after killing him, which is not true. They burned the body to release the iwi ( bones ) and then scattered them. I believe that Spam was and still is popular because it is a very inexpensive food item. People get it on the go and eat it. You can get it for 1-2 $. Also it lasts in a can and travels good for luau's and parties. Again this is my personal opinion and what I have heard and read.
