Is any one aware of a reliable Registry Utility (Free would be nice).
I was using Registry Mechanic by PCTools and the subscription is about to run out and of course the want $$ to renew it. Also, I wasn't very happy with it.
I tried *yourwaresolutions. com* and downloaded Registry Clean and Registry Smart and both programs scanned the registry and identified problems (over 600 problems) but they want $$ to register your copy before they will fix the problems.
I tried Google and came up with four pages of possibilities but I'm not sure which ones might be reliable (read safe) and who is not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

I have been using Registry Cleaner ($30/year). This is a registry specific program. One thing that I like is its ability to scan, clean, backup, defrag and compact the registry. Is it worth $30/year, thats up to you. I have been very happy with it.

Thanks Beeb, CCleaner was one of the programs I was looking at.
Gordon, I agree $30/year is good for a utility that does all that. I paid more for Registry Mechanic and it did not compress or defrag.
I'm going to give CCleaner a try while I look around a little more, however, Registry Cleaner does look good with the added defrag utility.
Thanks, Hank
