This is what I have to clean up today, at least it's beautiful outside. I could use that Farmall right about now.

I'm thinking both of those yards have Hedo-party potential!

Welcome to Hedo-Tucson!
The rum was flowing and jerk chicken was served in the hot tub at 4:30.

Gary~ I had to do it. You showed me yours, I had to show you mine. The house was finished in 1997, but it's still a construction zone. The pool and hot tub were finished 3 years ago. We still have the guest house and outdoor shower to do and the outdoor kitchen/bar. It's all plumbed and I've got a commercial Wolf stove for out there, but we haven't gotten started on that yet. My Dad was the one who climbed our peak with my camera and took the pics. Rick hasn't climbed it yet, but I told him that we have to do it. Take a bottle of wine and a blankie and fuck our brains out up there. Sounds like a plan to me. Now...get back to blowing! Hugs~ Cher

Cherbunny, play it safe and leave enough brains for getting down the mountain.
That is a terrific picture.

I'd show you a picture of my yard, but I don't HAVE a yard. I do have a nice city park a block way, though. Ahhh, city living, I love it......Jake

Gary & Geri,
Your yard looks like our yard in December (except we are on the water). The eastern US from Maine to eastern Texas looks similar, then about 40 miles west of here the land ch-ch-changes drastically to prairie then the high plains of the west begin past Fort Worth. Cherbunny's yard has the rugged beauty of the west.

Having lived in Jake's world and the east coast, the Sonoran Desert is something else. It's the only place where saguaro cactus grows.
I will admit that I do miss having grass and some big trees, but there is nothing like seeing a 20' tall saguaro in bloom.

I love those big saguaros. I used to go "photo hunting" for them outside of Phoenix. Once I bought a little baby one at a shop up north of Scottsdale (Carefree? Is that a town?). It was about 4 inches high, and it was "guaranteed to grow an arm within 80 years or your money cheerfully refunded." It died after a few years, still armless......Jake

Yep...Carefree is a town north of Scottsdale. Hugh Downs of 20/20 fame has a place there.
Your saguaro probably died because it wasn't facing south. One side of it that has been facing south since the day it started to grow, needed to be facing south. Honest......
Rick had to transplant 30+ cactus from the home site up the peak and knew that they had to face the same direction from which it originally faced.
These cactus are protected to the point that we cannot dig one up and say...give it to Diane to plant in her yard without the proper permit. Anything over 4' tall is way too heavy to dig up and move without some serious equipment.

BTW- The final leaf removal tally for my yard... 283 garbage bags (if I had to put them into garbage bags... fortunately, I pick them up, haul them into the woods and dump them)

I stick with only aloe plants in my yard for cactus. Soothes the aching skin when I've gotten too much sun!!!
Thanks anyway though,

I can't even imagine having that many leaves!! We live on a corner in a small town and have only 4 trees. We had our yard leaf free and the town hadn't bothered to come and collect the leaves (we put them in the gutter and they come and suck them up) so this weekend we had 50+ mph winds and we got all our leaves back in our yard and at least three more yards worth! Worse yet, our one neighbor hasn't bothered raking yet so somehow his leaves got up and over our fence and I had to rake all those too! He still has tons of leaves in his yard and I don't have the heart to tell him this is the last week they will come around and pick them up. BTW- The final leaf removal tally for my yard... 283 garbage bags (if I had to put them into garbage bags... fortunately, I pick them up, haul them into the woods and dump them)

Jake I think it is a cool picture... The shadow looks like one of the comic people my son draws. Of course his comic person is a jail bird complete with black & white shirt with prison ID number.

Actually, I think Dr. Goon *does* know the fun he's missing out on -- he's just too sly to come out and say so.
