This is the real deal no Bullshit, I just had a file emailed to me by somebody I know and trust, upon opening it, NO MORE INTERNET!! It makes ch-ch-changes to some system files, and takes over Outlook, not sure about Outlook Express, but I wouldn't be opening zip files. I have since copied the file to a CD and have ran several different virus checks on it, none of them find anything wrong with the file. I would venture to say that this one is brand new without a name yet. I am restoring my laptop back to yesterday as I type this.

I figured it was a joke sent to me by somebody I knew, I feel kinda sheepish being a security guy getting nailed with this fucking thing.

So do I...LOL I guess we just can't help ourselves, this is the very reason my computers all make backup images of themselves every night. It does help ease the pain.

BTW...I'm gonna try the Sonicwall you mentioned this weekend. Looks pretty slick and has some good reviews from what I find.

Hope you got things worked out!
FYI....don't ever unzip something unless you are EXPECTING to receive a file from someone. And a quick email to double check that it was actually sent by the person is key as well.

And a quick email to double check that it was actually sent by the person is key as well. Yes, and don't forget to attach a ZIP file to that e-mail as well, just in case.

And a quick email to double check that it was actually sent by the person is key as well. Oh, I know this very well, and have the certifications to prove it. I have a buddy that sends me jokes all the time, and that is what I thought this was, I called him this morning, and told him he was infected. he was not pleased. I also sent out an email to all in my address book to let them know also. This thing was just very new and from what I understand there were alot of infections world wide. The good news is every anti-virus software company that I check is now protecting against it. I would highly reccomend you make sure your virus definitions are up to date. As far as getting myself sraitened out no problem mon, I just fire up Ghost and restore my computer to my last backup, which just happened to be about 3 hours before I got into this thing. So I lost a grand total of ZERO!! I tell all my clients that they need to regular backups, and this is a case in point.
