Jake, a while ago (in the Movie Forum, I believe), you wondered if it was possible to enter Spoiler Tags. Well, I don't recall if you ever got that issue resolved to your satisfaction or not, but I noticed that there is apparently some Javascript code that you can enter to enable this functionality. This information is located in a thread from June on the SoCal board, which is also hosted by ProBoards -- so, I think would mean the code should work here. The thread is Spoiler Tag In Posts . Please check it out and let us know if you think it will work on TNMC.

Well, I installed the code where it is suppose to go. It *sort of* works. In a short passage, it works fine. For a longer passage, it doesn't work at all! In various other tests, it behaved kind of unpredictably. I used it for my review of "A History Of Violence", but I had to break up my spoiler passage into short lines to get it to work. And I'm not sure if it will work the same way for all browsers. I tested it in Firefox and IE and it worked the same way. Looking forward to feedback from the rest of youse guys. To use the spoiler tags, just put a [spoiler**] (without the **) before the text, and a [/spoiler**] (without the **) after the text. I tried using the "code" tag to just show it, but it didn't work!! Hence my use of the ** gambit. You get what you pay for in message board software, apparently. Here it is in operation: spoiler text that you don't want anyone to see If you want to see what I actually typed in the above sentence, just click the "quote" button and you'll see it. If the reader highlights the blank space, they can see the text.

Just wanted to see what the 'code' would look like...

Doesn't appear that the 'preview post' gives you exactly what the final outcome will be here. and a long spoiler Jake, a while ago (in the Movie Forum, I believe), you wondered if it was possible to enter Spoiler Tags. Well, I don't recall if you ever got that issue resolved to your satisfaction or not, but I noticed that there is apparently some Javascript code that you can enter to enable this functionality. Now trying to see how long the spoiler can be... spoiler text that you don't want anyone to see I can't get it to work no matter how short. I copied and pasted your spoiler in my message, maybe it's only enabled for admin? Gary

I think that I found out the secret here.
Move the cursor to the left side of the blacked out box, then click and drag the cursor across the box... like you would do if you were going to highlight for a copy or cut operation.... then the text appears.

I think that's what Jake meant when he said:
"If the reader highlights the blank space, they can see the text. "
I believe the 'reader' he was referring to was us, sitting at our computers.

Youre right, I misread the post.. caffine deficiency
Going to the thread that BB linked us to, I read further and saw that someone else indicated the same problem with long spoilers, but no responce was ever given. I have to assume that it is probably not fixable.

I mis-read it as well. That's how I picked up on your mis-reading so quickly.
I was sitting here this morning thinking, what fucking reader is he talking about? I'm just using a browser to read this board.
Now, if he enables XML on here, we could use a Newsreader...

We're geeks here, lady. We ain't got no feathers. The closest I can get is a can of compressed air I use to clean out the dust from my keyboard & CPU. Perhaps it could be used on your little CPU as well?

I got myself into a bit of trouble with my wife with that compressed air, I didn't even think about it, but she bent over to pick something up, and I gave her a goose with the air, and never thought about the can being upside down. The liquid shit came out and burnt her, she had a spot about the size of a dime on her butt cheek. Needless to say I had to kiss her boo boo and make up.

But I didn't want to get too deep under the hood of the software until I was confident that the basic function was in good working order. I'm just a duffer when it comes to Javascript......Jake

How in the fuck did we go from talking about spoiler tags to genital warts , this has to be the worst thread drift I have ever seen. Whoops, upon further investigation, I am the culprit of the first drifting post. ;D

Imagine that ... censoring himself for his own safety. How cute!

They turn the can upside down and spray, instant horsepower.
