An interesting discussion cropped up this weekend at the Sandy Hook reunion.
Some of you may be familiar with the term TDY. This is an acronym that roughly stands for "Temporary Duty", and is used by military personnel, as well as civilian employees of the DoD and their contractors, as a short-hand term for any business trip. In fact, it may be the original source of the frequently-adapted phrase "what happens TDY, stays TDY."
Anyway, Cherbunny and I have both used this term for years, and we figured we should try to come up with a definition for it that means: "Hedo folks going on a trip to try to relieve their DIF symptoms by visiting with other Hedo folks in a Hedo-like setting". But just WHAT would the letters stand for? My best guess is "Temporary DIF ____", but I can't think of a word starting with Y that means "relief" or "treatment".
Or, we could take a totally other tack of what it could stand for, as long as it relates to a trip taken by a Hedo person, in search of a Hedo type buzz. We have some creative folks out here.... what do YOU all think?......Jake

My vote: Yield (or Yielded or Yielding). Using the definition from Merriam-Webster's Online: intransitive senses 1 : to be fruitful or productive : BEAR, PRODUCE 2 : to give up and cease resistance or contention : SUBMIT, SUCCUMB 3 : to give way to pressure or influence : submit to urging, persuasion, or entreaty
I'm thinking of definition #2 or #3 here. Possible usage: "I admit to a very necessary TDY at the Hook this past weekend" (definition #2) OR "Had to attend the local Hedo party because I couldn't fight off the TDY any longer". (definition #3)

Temporary DIF Yoga. . . Definition of Yoga The word "yoga" comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, which means "to join" or "to yoke". Yoga is an ancient art based on a harmonizing system of development for the body, mind, and spirit. The continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being at one with their environment. yoga.org.nz/what-is-yoga/yoga_definition.htmSounds a bit familiar
