Welcome to the Pocket Protector Palace!! Your place for all things geeky, technical, and pointy-headed!! I was tempted to call this forum the Pencil Neck Palace, but I'm not sure how many folks are familiar with the term "Pencil Neck Geek" made famous by Classy Fred Blassy in the novelty tune of the same name.
Whatever; this forum is for those technical topics that we geeks enjoy; the relative performance of a Pentium vs. an Athlon. The benefits of a manual transmission over an automatic transmission. When you would use a free-body diagram over a virtual work integral. That sort of crap.
I waited until the wee hours to set this up so that Gordon would have a good shot at putting up the first real post, since he was the first one to suggest this forum. But I know that we have a goodly contingent of geeks on this board, so have at it, my hearties!......Jake
P.S. - we have several existing threads that would fit this forum very well. But, in the proud TNMC tradition, I will not move them. They'll just have to sit in their traditional ancestral homes, unless someone links to them from here.

Now that it is here, I predict that it will take several weeks before a legitimate thread appears. Shows what I know!! I now predict that this topic is so hot that it will pass the TOTAL number of posts found in "It's Curtains For You!: Theater Discussion Board", before 12:01am Friday. THAT ought to close this down for a while! Gordon Editted to add: WELL DUH, it already has. Aint we a culltchured bunch!

I will check on that here... Gremlins is the nickname of our local high school football (is that a stupid name?). Dont know any that are into hydraulics, but you never know. Sorry I cant help you... all I know of hydraulics are quick connect couplers, puhsh lever forward does one thing, pull lever back does the opposite.
Gordon
Editted to add: Joe, maybe use thread drift in the vibrator re-wiring section to get hydraulics expertise!

Those fucking gremlins show up every now and then and you have to just sit back and figure out the problem. Is it the main pump, a motor, a bypass, a valve, flow divider? Joe.

When you would use a free-body diagram over a virtual work integral. I've found that teaching undergraduate students about free-body diagrams one of the easiest things in the world. With some work, it is easy for students to conceptualize. Teaching them about virtual work, however, is one of the hardest.

That's because free-body diagrams make intuitive sense. Virtual work does not, at least not to me. Fortunately, I rarely teach undergraduate courses. They always stick we with the grad student courses.......Jake
