Good time to go out, a career season at his age was the perfect way to seal it up.

One of the few smart ones who knew when to hang up the old jock strap and move on with his life. Good move Bret.

I think the best thing about Farve was he was really 'old school' when it came to playing, and playing hurt. He was no prima donna in that respect. In 2007 alone there were 64 starting NFL quarterbacks, Farve went almost 16 years (253 games) as the starting QB. THAT impresses me most!!

Somehow, the 99.9 % retired, Michael Jordan, and Roger Clemens, rings a bell.
psssst.... I'll believe this one come August training. Not a day sooner.

google ==> "Brett Farvre" * The NFL's only three-time MVP (1995-97), ranks in the league’s top three in four major categories: second in touchdowns (376), second in completions (4,306), third in attempts (7,003) and third in yards (49,734) * Stands alone at third on the all-time QB wins list with 135, behind only John Elway (148) and Dan Marino (147). With a 135-70 record, holds the fourth-highest winning percentage (.659) among starters who have begun their careers since the 1970 league merger (min. 100 starts) * Has started 205 consecutive games (225 including playoffs), an NFL record for a QB...
Me thinks it’s the right time for him to walk away and apparently so does he, but me also thinks he will have regrets almost immediately, and definitely once training camps open. It will be interesting to see if a warmer-climate team is interested in August. With a chance at a Super Bowl run. With some great receivers.
psssst....We’ll see what Favre does.

He's a smart man and knows that you have to be mentally prepared to play pro ball. He says he isn't. I also think he is smart enough to know that his body could give out at any time.
Unitas and Namath just to name a couple of past greats played one year two many on new teams and they only seen action in a couple of games. Ruined great careers by going out on the bench.

I agree with Joe - also, I don't think Farve would play for another team besides the Pack.
