In my ongoing attempt to educate myself and read "the classics", I recently picked up a copy of Cervantes' "Don Quixote" and am going to attempt to polish it off before I croak of old age. Visiting Spain last summer helped to spark my interest. However, it is 1000+ pages of 400-year-old prose, which is quite daunting. I figured with luck I might finish it in a few years, if my lips don't get too tired. However, I am now several chapters into it (there is a total of LXXIV chapters), and I am pleasantly surprised. It is HILARIOUS. Very droll, sarcastic, and full of sly humor. Not at all a chore to read, but rather a total pleasure. It might not be long ENOUGH! So.... Has anybody else out there read this tome? And what did you think?......Jake (by the way, LXXIV is 74 in real numbers)
