We just got back from Lubbock where my oldest son graduated from Texas Tech yesterday. My ass has been numb since Abilene. We live close to the Louisiana line and Lubbock is close to New Mexico - too damned far to drive for the weekend. It snowed while we were out there and I detest the cold weather.
I had a nice visit with both of my sons - the youngest is a junior there. The one that graduated has a double degree in accounting and math but wants to go another year to Texas Tech and teach high school math.

Go tell The Gay Neighbors. I have been blindsided and should have seen this coming. BTW, I already told the gay neighbors. You should sleep better knowing that.

Tex I'm really worried about you. Please send that lovely wife of your's over here so I can protect her.
It's the least I can do.
I don't want her gettin' mixed up with the neighbors. Wouldn't be good.

These are disturbing developments.

Gordon, you were here yourself just recently. My son wants to take two more semesters so he can teach. He is personable and I think he would make a good teacher.

Hey Tex, did you get to drive over in the part of Texas where the speed limit is posted 80?

Hey Tex, did you get to drive over in the part of Texas where the speed limit is posted 80? No, but everyone was driving over 80. There is part of the state that is absolutely desolate. One county is the size of CT and has a few thousand people. Another is almost as big and has a little over a hundred people (Loving County). The speed limit is 80 out there.

I went through there last month. I don't remember the speed limit being tha high three years ago, but it could have been. I hate THAT PART of Texas. I think it was around 700 miles from Galveston to El Paso. It seemed like it took forever to hit New Mexico. Hey Tex, I was in Kountz, are you over in that area?

The last time I drove to Lubbock I actually saw a real live tumbleweed blow accross the highway in front of my car. My best friend and I made a pact to never drive there again - flying was worth not loxing 7 hours of your life on that boring drive up from San Antonio.
I do have a question for your boys - Why do they throw tortillas at football games?

I don't know about the tortillas. It is so windy there that they might take flight.
We live about 175 mile north of Kountze. That part of Texas is very backward. We live near Kilgore which is just S of I20 between Dallas and Shreveport.

I actually know where that is - Kilgore was on my shortcut I found between I -20 and IH35 when I drove to and from Mississippi. I will be sure to wave next time I head through there. =)

Tyler is 26 miles west of Kilgore. Is your friend's son at John Tyler or Robert E. Lee or the Catholic School?
