Hard to believe, but it's taken me 34 years to finally see Martin Scorsese's classic "Raging Bull." Watched it tonight on Netflix Streaming. What an awesome movie! (If you haven't seen it, it is about the rise and fall of real-life boxer Jake LaMotta.)
But I have to admit, great though it is, it kind of felt like a "dry run" of his later classics, which I've seen many times, "Goodfellas" and "Casino."
What do the rest of you think? Is Raging Bull just a prototype for his later flicks? Or does it posses charms and themes and issues that the later movies could not possibly live up to?
