Anyone following all the sturm und drang over at Denny's? People are getting their panties all in a bunch over the rumors of mass firings. It's hard to read them without shaking your head and thinking, "what is WRONG with these people!"

I've been following it myself Jake and totally agree with you. Hedo is a business, not a charity, and it won't be around in a few years if nothing is done to turn it around, and these guys have come along and put their money into it and therefore have every right to run it as they see fit, and that includes letting go any staff who don't fit in with their plans... however sad that might be for the individuals and families concerned.

Exactly. Sure, it's sad when someone is let go. But if nothing is done, they will ALL be let go when the place shuts its doors for good!

Anita, part of my point is that we KNOW NOTHING about who (if anyone) was let go. All we have is vague rumors on the internet. If I believed everything I read at DennyP's, then.... well, I don't even have an analogy for it. I just don't accept anything as truth until I see it posted someplace reputable, or see it for myself. Getting one's panties in a wad over a rumor is just silly.

How do you know that for a fact?

How do you know that for a fact? By personal email with me and FB postings by them.

I just don't accept anything as truth until I see it posted someplace reputable, or see it for myself I would have thought that specific names of anyone who may have been let go would be considered confidential, even in Jamaica, so IMHO there is unlikely to be an official list released by the new owners. I actually find it quite wrong that these rumours, hunches and 'facts' are being bandied about in public... let these people at least have their dignity left intact. I wonder how many of the people on Dennyp throwing names around like confetti would like it if it was they who were being publicly subjected to rumour and speculation by name for anyone to see? The new owners are doing a good job of telling the world that the customers don't run Hedo, they do. It's their money they have risked and they call the shots.

How do you know that for a fact? By personal email with me and FB postings by them. Personal emails, maybe; but FB postings don't have any more veracity than DennyP postings in my book. And Simon, I agree with you. I wouldn't want my personal business bandied about on the internet either.

Both Anna and Steve posted on THEIR FB page about their dismissal.
BTW, I did not post their names on Dennys. I posted here because no one but our small group ever reads here. I'll delete it.

Anita, I wasn't trying to be contentious. I agree with you; posting something here is about as private as it gets! I just think (some) people at Denny's are getting carried away with wild speculation, and it looks ridiculous.

No! I just thought I'd share with the rest of the class who might have missed it!

Names of individuals released from their job should not be posted on this or any web site. I thought Denny was a little sharper than that.
Any time a new company comes along and buys someone out people are released from postions, it just business. In my business I have seen company fields reps come and go over night when a new corporation ghas bought out a winery I do business with. it's just part of the business world, even in Jamacia.

As a business owner it always amazes me how quick people are to suggest what decisions a private business should make. And it chaps my ass when the suggestions turn to how to spend hard earned revenue. But it does not piss me off as bad as when government makes similar suggestions I am so glad I am developing my end game strategy for exiting the business world.
In my book one should only involve themselves in discussions like we are seeing over there when they have put their own assets at risk and truly have some skin in the game.

We wish you the best in pulling off your exit. I did pretty much the same in 09 and don't regret it. I'm old enough to remember when running a business was enjoyable. Now there is a bullseye on your ass. I'm glad to be semi-retired.

A big bright one. Everyone want to tell you how to run your business but they don't want to put any money where their mouth is.
I am like Nola. I'm working on the end game. A couple of more years and I am done.
