I dont know, lots of pluses bringing Abrams into the franchise, and after the train wreck of episodes 1 and 2 and the partial recovery with 3, there will be a some pressure to put the series aright.
No question Abrams is a guy who can do the job, but what does he have to work with. Vadar is dead, so no Skywalker Dad/Son conflict. Maybe the Emperor is still alive?

Just so he stops making Star Trek movies, I'll be happy.
My (admittedly feeble) understanding of the Star Wars "vision" was that episodes 7-9 were to be set waaaaaay in the future from the previous ones, with the only common characters being the two main robots. But that could certainly have changed.
