Tonight's Svengoolie episode was the Marx Brother's "duck (why a no chicken?) Soup." Yes, it was an unusual installment, as Sven usually shows horror movies. But for some reason, he thought some top notch Marxism would be appropriate tonight.
If you are a fan of 1930s comedy in general, and the Marx Brothers in particular, you know that this movie is a classic. If you are not, you probably would not enjoy it. Being almost 80 years old, much of the comedy is pretty well dated. But some of it rings true to this day.
One of the bits in this flick is a TOTAL classic, and is still parodied (or is that "paid homage"?) to this day: the mirror scene. One character is impersonating another character. And he accidentally breaks a large mirror, just before he is discovered by the real character. So he does the natural thing: he pretends to be the mirror image in the (non existent) mirror. If you don't find this hilarious, something BAD is wrong with you!

One of the best of all time, it transcends the generations. Even my daughter, nieces and nephews see the humor in the movies of that era, and can see the roots of modern humor therein. The context may ch-ch-change, but the humor stays the same.
