The new James Bond movie, Skyfall, is due out very soon. Early reports are that it is very good. It couldn't possibly be much worse than the last one. Anyone have any news or insights?

It's released here on Friday and the trailer is all over the TV. Everything I've read so far sounds like it's going to be well good innit.

Here are some trailers:
I must say, Bond is looking particularly haggard in these clips; almost Al Bundy haggard. Not that I have a problem with that. As an aficionado of the novels, I believe that Bond was supposed to look like he was on his last legs most of the time. Kudos to the filmmakers for recognizing that fact.

Saw the trailer last night. I will say that it looks good and while Bond looks haggard, he always lands on his feet.
BTW- Ann had an interesting suggestion for the next Bond movie (whether Daniel Craig plays Bond or not) which should have been done for this movie considering its the 50th anniversary of the franchise.. bring in as many former Bond's as possible for cameo roles... for her bringing in Connery and Brosnan would be sufficient

Tell Ann to rent the movie "Ronin." No fewer than THREE former Bond villains in that movie.

Looking forward to your review!
I read that in the product placement department, Bond uses a Sony Android phone in this one! See if you can spot it.

I was going to write a review of Skyfall but to be honest I didn't know where to start because I can't do justice to the many reviews I looked at online to try to gain some inspiration and a starting point for my own. So just go and see this awesome movie and you'll understand why I can't do it justice.
All I can say though is this is Fleming's Bond... dark, moody and damaged. Oh, and home, in Britain where he belongs because he is, after all, a British secret agent. So much of the movie is set in London and Scotland you really do get a real sense of the man, MI5, and the country he serves... and why he serves it.
Oh, and just for Jake... "Mind the gap"

I saw this last weekend and enjoyed it quite a good deal but wonder if Jake will have some issues with it. So Bond worships the dick???

It was certainly a buttock clenching moment for all the men in the cinema.

Worse than the knotted rope in the nards back in Casino Royale?

You mean the knotted rope scene that made all his ear wax pop out...?

Finally saw Skyfall today. Not bad. Not bad at all. I'm always relieved when they leave out the silliness from a Bond film. This time, they left almost all of it out.
Looks like we are getting two (maybe three) new recurring characters. Voldemort did a pretty good impression of the old Bernard Lee character!
My favorite line in the whole movie: "Waste of good scotch!"
Mind the gap, indeed!

I found out after seeing Skyfall that a friend of mine is in the Tube scene. I'll have to wait for the DVD to come out next month to see if I can spot her. Glad you enjoyed it Jake.

In the tube scene, with hundreds of people getting jostled around, I kept wondering if these were all paid extras on a closed set, or if they just wandered into the station and started filming with real people all around! I would have bet against the second option, except that I remember specifically when they filmed "The Fugitive" in Chicago. They sent the actors and the cameras, unannounced, right into the middle of the St. Patrick's Day parade and let the film roll! Also: not that it matters to anyone, but now that I've seen this movie in the theater, that means I haven't missed a Bond movie in the theaters since the first one I saw, which was The Spy Who Loved Me, in 1977. Also, one question: Did Bond sleep with Moneypenny? After that erotic shaving scene, I assumed so. And when she mentioned later how they had had "a few close shaves," I assumed even more so. But then I thought.... "Bond sleep with Moneypenny? Ewwwww......" So now I don't know what to think.

Jake, my friend Jo was a paid extra in that scene. I wish she'd told me she was doing it, I'd love to have gone along and been in it too.

That's good to know. My sister used to do that extra thing a lot. She had micro-parts in Child's Play, The Weatherman, and The Untouchables.
