As some will have seen on my Facebook I recently spent ten days in Didim on the Aegean coast of western Turkey, about four hours flying time from the UK.
We stayed at an all inclusive resort, the Venosa Spa and Beach Resort, which was absolutely fabulous and of a very high standard. Days were spent soaking up the sun by the pool, canoeing on the ocean, playing beach volleyball, and the occasional trip into the town of Didum to sightsee and stock up on fake designer clothes, watches and sunglasses. We also visited the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, built in 2500 BC. This meant catching a small bus called a Dolmus. You get in, find a seat, and at some point during your journey (there's no rush) you either pay the driver if you can reach him, otherwise you give your fare to other passengers who will pass it forwards until it reaches him. If you are due any ch-ch-change he will pass it back to you the same way.
I can also report that we took the bus to the resort, bananas were plentiful, the towel exchange programme was working well, and the new road is nearly finished :
Every day Somalian pirates would raid the beach and kidnap guests to ransom them to raise the money to buy HD ready televisions and Remington beard trimmers

This year's swimming burka colours are black and pink
The view from our balcony
Call Ali's Pizza and Kebab House and our Fiat Supermirafiori will be at your doorstep in 15 minutes.
Keeping death in the family Turkish style.
Dawn from our balcony
The pool just after dawn
Sunset over Didim
