Following the Olympic organisers showing the North Korean women's football team with the South Korean flag on the giant screen before the match, how well do YOU know your flag and anthem gaffes? www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19001252I scored 6 out of a possible 7.

I almost called "Harvey Korman" when I saw the thread title.
I only got 4 out of 7, and anyone who gets the last one wrong simply does not understand the British mind.

I have to admit that I never noticed the slight "pinwheeling" in the Union Jack before. It's a mistake I could easily have made.

Technically, it's not a "thicker" white diagonal. It's a red St. George's cross side by side with a white St. Andrew's cross of the same thickness, surrounded on both sides by a white fimbriation. The fimbriation blends in with the St. Andrew's cross. And no, I didn't know that before today. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Flag#DesignBut I know what you mean, and yours is the vastly easier way to say it!

If we are going to drill right down, the British flag should only be called the Union Jack when flown on a ship of the sea. On all other occasions our flag is called the Union Flag.
Sadly, many here do not know that, just as many do not know even know there is a correct way up to fly it, so it is commonly, and often sadly officially, called the Union Jack.
