The amazing thing is that anyone in that business from that era made it even close to that age.

The man's an arse. Always has been. My mother was at school with him in Liverpool and says he was an arse then too.
In the late 60s my mother's partner of the last ten years used to run an electrical business next door to the Apple offices in Baker's Street. One day Lennon and McCartney wandered in and asked if he'd be interested in doing some wiring work for them. After taking a look at what they wanted the three of them ended up doing the deal over a couple of pints and a game of darts in the Barley Mow pub nearby. He became good friends with Macca, as well as Lennon and Yoko, and they are still friends to this day. None of this impresses my mum though who still thinks he's an arse and won't have him in the house.

That's what my mailman used to call me. Until I tossed him into the wood-chipper.

"If I'd known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself."
Don't remember who said it, but it rings truer every year.

I heard it was attributed to the late Mickey Mantle.
