Congratulations. I had a roommate from Pampa at UT Austin. He was later a newscaster in Amarillo, the nearest larger city to Pampa. Lots of wide open spaces up there. Be sure to take in Palo Duro Canyon.

Well... as redneck as we are, we should fit in well. At least they have REAL chilli in TX unlike this crap with beans in it you get here...

Texas is easy to move to. Half the state came from somewhere else. Welcome.
Yankee? Pampa is closer to Chicago than it is to much of Texas.

If you're driving down I recommend a tire diameter of at least 29 inches.

Well... I am having a hard time finding a decent place to stay on a temp basis in the area... found a few flea bag motels, but nothing along the lines of what I am willing to take... Becky and the kids are staying here in IL till the house sells...

Well, leaving for TX tonight... I figure 13 hours or so, leaving here about 6:30pm, so that should put me in Pampa about 8am tomorrow morning, if I drive straight through.

Well, I have arrived in Pampa, TX... not a bad little town, not a whole hell of a lot here, but seems like a decent enough place to hang your hat. I have been out and about looking at homes for sale, but haven't found much yet.

Welcome to Texas. I would suggest your first family outing be a day trip to Palo Duro Canyon.
