The Driskill is Austin's best known hotel. The picture is from my phone and has a narrow field but you get the idea. Cattle baron Jesse Driskill finished the hotel in 1886 when the streets were dirt and cattle were driven up the main streets of town. The hotel has only sixty rooms. LBJ loved the place and watched his 1964 election returns there. Attachments:

Lots of ghost stories from the Driskill. It is on the corner of Sixth and Brazos, Sixth being a mix of Bourbon Street and the Wild West. It is a drunken carnival, but on the same night I took this picture, we saw a couple riding down the street on horseback.

Even old buildings of little significance can be interesting. I like local homes from the arts and crafts period, many still retain the original decorative details.
