The recent death of Ian Abercrombie got me to thinking. Seinfeld had lots and lots of characters, many of whom were, shall we say, elderly. The "marble rye" lady croaked recently too, I think. And Uncle Leo! Would anyone be interested in a Seinfeld-only "sudden death" dead pool? I see it working like this: - Everyone gets to list five names. (number is negotiable)
- Names must be regular or recurring actors (more than one episode)
- First person with two (or three?) stiffs on their list wins (again, number is negotiable)
It might end in a few months; might go on for years. That's all part of the fun! So what do you all think?

Given the list of eligible characters, we may have to do the selection via a draft system, to make it interesting. The character can be drafted no more than twice, and use a serpentine draft format... example draft order 1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1-1-2... etc
OR
Have an "appearance cap" the total episode appearances of the actors on your list cannot total more than 50 (using imdb.com or similar resource as the official arbitrator). This takes the 4 primary characters out of the running, and Ruth Cohen is already dead. But it would eliminate an obvious pairing of some prime candidates, Estelle Harris and Jerry Stiller.

I see that Gordon actually put a list together. I'll take that as indication that there is interest! Let's not worry about the "selection draft" or any of that other stuff; I think there are plenty of characters to choose from, and the best ones are probably NOT the obvious ones. Let's go with the rules I listed above, but make it only TWO stiffs to win. Otherwise, it might take years. To reiterate: - Everyone gets to list five names.
- Names must be regular or recurring actors (appearing in more than one episode)
- Post your list right here on this thread; we'll compile them later.
- List both the actor's name and the character name so we know who the hell you are talking about
- First person with two certified stiffs on their list wins all the marbles.
Open enrollment starts NOW and goes until end of February. Official deaths can begin on March 1, and will continue until somebody has two stiffs on their list. Okay, let's get those lists in! Remember; an actor had to appear on the show at least TWICE. But not necessarily as the same character. Any questions?

Am I the only person here who has never seen a Seinfeld episode?

I have seen a few seconds of Seinfeld at a time while channel surfing, but that's all.

Damn! I was going to list Sandy Baron (Jack Klompus), but he's already dead already!! So I'll go with:
Grace Zabriskie (Susan's mom) Warren Frost (Susan's dad) Philip Baker Hall (Bookman the library cop) Richard Herd (Wilhelm, of the Yankees) Estelle Harris (George's mom)
But I may ch-ch-change this before the deadline if further research indicates it......

OK Here is my official list
Estelle Harris (Estelle Costanza) Jerry Stiller (Frank Costanza) Warren Frost (Mr Ross) Reni Santoni (Poppie) Richard Herd (Matt Wilhelm)
And since I am limited to five, I have to drop Danny Woodburn (Mickey Abbott). Always on the lookout for health issues and the vertically challenged, but there seems to be nothing going on with him that would indicate problems. I may end up regretting it, but I will go with age over height here and leave him off the final list.

Jack Klopmus was the first one I thought about. In fact the first 6 or 7 names I looked at were already dead. We should have started this game 10 years ago. But how would we have posted our choices?

I was also hoping Henry Atkins had more than the one episode as the Postmaster General. Wilford would have been a natural pick

Wayne Knight wouldn't be a bad pick. Anyone that large could suffer from John Candy/Chris Farley Syndrome.

This is a limited group to pick from but here goes. Lots of them are in their late 50's early 60's not that it means anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Estelle Harris (George's mom) Jerry Stiller (Frank Costanza) Liz Sheridan (Jerry's mom) Warren Frost (Susan's dad) Richard Herd (Matt Wilhelm)

von Bargen was actually one of the first names I thought of, but when I looked him up, he wasn't as old as I thought he'd be. So I dropped him. Might have to re-think that decision!

Seinfeld himself had a bit about people who fail a suicide attempt, but then don't try again. "Has their life gotten any better? I don't think so. Now they have ONE MORE THING they know they are no good at!!"

I heard the 911 call played on my satellite radio, he sounded pretty fucked up, but having just attempted to put a hole in his head, I guess thats to be expected

I heard it this morning on SiriusXM, too (Jay Thomas). During the call, he told the 911 operator, "I just shit my pants, too".
Talk about a great epitaph ...

Okay, the entering deadline has passed, so I guess these are the official lists. Don't anybody edit your post with your list! That would have to count as a disqualification. I suppose I could lock the thread like I do with the main deadpool, but that seems a bit too much for this little side project. So instead, I'll just re-iterate the official submissions here:
Nola: - Phillip Baker Hall. Lt. Joe Bookman - Bruce Davison. Wyck Thayer - Mark Metcalf. Bob Cobb - Victor Raider-Wexler. Dr. Siegel - Richard Fancy. Mr. Lippmann
Jake: - Grace Zabriskie (Susan's mom) - Warren Frost (Susan's dad) - Philip Baker Hall (Bookman the library cop) - Richard Herd (Wilhelm, of the Yankees) - Estelle Harris (George's mom)
Gordon: - Estelle Harris (Estelle Costanza) - Jerry Stiller (Frank Costanza) - Warren Frost (Mr Ross) - Reni Santoni (Poppie) - Richard Herd (Matt Wilhelm)
Joe: - Estelle Harris (George's mom) - Jerry Stiller (Frank Costanza) - Liz Sheridan (Jerry's mom) - Warren Frost (Susan's dad) - Richard Herd (Matt Wilhelm)
