They've got David Wright, who will be traded mid-season, IMO.

Jimmy Rollins resigned with the Phillies, so that will still make them one of the top teams in the NL.

Rumor has it that Jorge Posada is going to hang up the gear. Great career.

One of the few people in this era to spend his entire career with the same team.

It's called "SHOW ME THE MONEY". Look what 254 Million did for Albert.
I think Mariano and Derek will be the other two to spend their entire career with the Yanks.

With Posada's retirement, half of what they used to refer to as "The Core Four" will be gone (Andy Pettitte was the other one).

NCAA Football is over. The NFL is in the playoffs. The NBA is playing 80% of a season. But the important thing is Pitchers and Catchers start reporting on Feburary 16th which means the MLB season is just a short time away.
Big questions.
Where is Fielder going to play? He wants according to reports 24.6 Million a year.
Will Albert make a big difference in for the LA Angels?
Will the LA Dodgers be sold ( heard reports today of 1 billion), and once again become the respectable franchise they have been?
Will age, Jeter (37) A-Rod (36) Mariano (41) do in the Yankees?
Will Bobby V get the Red Sox back on track again.
Will the Giants score more than 1 run per game (damn well better)?
These and more questions to soon be answered starting April 4th........................... Stay tunned............................

Fielder isnt getting a lot of love. I read he's asking for 10 years/$200million... Bold request for someone with waistline and his age.

By the way the Giants just gave Lincecum a new 2 year 40.5 million contract today.

That's a better investment than the Fielder contract, assuming those numbers are accurate.
Fielder's contract is too long and too much $, especially if he winds up mostly DH'ing.

Fielder is 28. He should be able to play first for at least 7 more years then 2 DH'ing isn't really bad.
I think there are more chances of things going wrong with Lincecum than Fielder. I am glad that it is only a two year deal. We are still suffering with two more years of Zito's contract.

That's because pitchers tend to be very fragile; most teams prefer not to offer long term contracts to pitchers.
Fielder, IMO, will start to break down within the next 3-4 years.

I am not sure this is a great deal for Detroit IMO. The word is that they will move Cabrera over to third, leaving Inge on the out. Now Inge's time has probably come and gone, he can still field but his bat was pathetic. He is probably suited for a late game defensive replacement, but not much more.
But Cabrera at third? Does he have the range anymore to be anything more than mediocre. Batters that can place a grounder where they want are going to have fun. Maybe he's been working on getting his fielding moves back, but I am going to have to be convinced.
As for the $$ for Fielder, I might have giving him more per year for a shorter term agreement. If Martinez heals up and is able to come back in '13, Detroit may have some trading options, but I am not sure what the contract status of Martinez is.
OTOH- Pairing up Fielder and Cabrera up in the line up should make for some interesting decisions for opposition pitchers. Fielder is a lefty, Cabrera is right handed.
Edited: Just checked, Martinez is now in the second year of a 4 year contract ($50M). Look for a trade somewhere once he clear's the doctors ok... unless Cabrera actually works out at third... WOW, Cabrera, Fielder, Martinez in the meat of the order, THAT GIVES ME PAUSE TO THINK.

Edwin Jackson to the Nats for one year and $10M... could be a VERY interesting division to watch this year.
