They actually sell the Light version at one of my neighborhood supermarkets. Also, I've seen it on tap at H2 -- or at least that was the label on the handle ... whether it was the light version or not, who knows?

I have had Red Stripe for many years at my local grocery store, but at $12 for a 6 pack, well... I have other priorities.

I agree -- too expensive and not worth it.

Maybe it'll get cheaper once it's made domestically. And maybe they'll have a big marketing push. We should try to come up with some good slogans for them!

"Red Stripe: like sex in a canoe because it's fucking close to water!"

Unlike the rest of Europe, the Red Stripe sold in the UK is brewed under license here in England. It is formulated to suit our tastes and is much like one of our domestic lagers, or the popular European lagers such as my beloved Carlsberg. It's a nice beer, much fuller and tastier than it's Jamaican relative.

I wonder if they will ship genuine Hedo hot tub water to the US for that "taste of Jamaica"

Love Jamaica but the Red Stripe is not for me.

IMHO, Red Stripe can give you a powerful headache too, I've had my share of aspirin as an afternoon snack in Jamaica.

It gives me a headache too, but so does Heineiken.

Speaking of Heineken, I always thought Red Stripe tasted very similar to it. I don't think it is overly light or flavorless at all. It is more flavorful than a standard American mega-lager (eg, MGD or Budweiser), but lighter than a full-flavored mini-brew (eg., Anchor Steam or Sam Adams).
