Finally snared me one o'them thar Google+ accounts. Haven't yet figured out if it'll be worth using either instead of or in addition to Facebook.
What do you think? Do any of you have a Google+ account? If so, how do you think it stacks up to Facebook? Better, worse or just different?
If you don't have a Google+ account, what do you think of it based on what you've heard/read? Is a Google+ account something you'd be interested in having either instead of or in addition to Facebook?

Yeah, I'm guessing it will end up on the same trash heap with Google Buzz, Google Wave, and Google Groups. You can probably toss Orkut in there as well, although I understand that has some semblance of life in third-world countries.
Google is really good at the things they are good at, and I give them huge props for trying lots of stuff and never giving up. But when you swing at every pitch, you are bound to have lots of misses.

Just about every software company -- Microsoft included -- is of a "Me, Too!" mentality, and I guess that explains why they developed Google+. It's more to respond to their investors who say things at the board meetings like, "Hey, why don't youse guys do some more o'that Social Networking kinda stuff?".

IMO, they've definitely improved on the security issue re: people whom you would "Friend" by introducing the concept of "Circles". That said, I don't think there's enough there (yet) that makes it compelling to make the switch. The other down side, of course, is that you have to have a Google/Gmail account in order to use Google+.

Okay, I joined Google+. It's a nice clean interface, and seems much more intuitive than Facebook. But so far, it's pretty sparse on content and subscribers.
Anyone else? Anyone using it on a regular basis?

I signed up for Google + but having experienced it I really cannot see the point. Just as Google has become THE search engine Facebook now dominates social networking. Google have jumped on the bandwagon far too late and will end up with egg on their faces. For all it's faults Facebook has become an everyday part of people's lives for staying in touch with friends and family, sharing pictures and thoughts, and general online Shenanigans and it is hard to imagine people moving en masse to an alternative.
