I have no clue where the nearest 7/11 is
Edited: I checked their website, the nearest 7/11 is just over 200 miles away in lower Michigan... 201 miles provided I can drive 60 mile over Lake Michigan... anything for a Slurpee

What planet do you live on? I can walk to about a dozen of them without breaking a sweat. Same with Starbucks and Walgreen's.

None of those in my Brooklyn nabe -- the locals are too hipsterish to tolerate 'em.

Jake I went to the corporate site store locator. It found that my nearest stores are in Traverse City MI (nearest straight line, but I have to way overshoot by a couple hours drive time to the bridge), Antioch IL and Dryden Ontario (half way between International Falls MN and Winnepeg.)
Can it be there are no 7/11's in Wisconsin or Minnesota... or do they not want me to have my free Slurpee?

Interesting. I assumed they were everywhere. Wherever I travel in the US, they seem to be all over the place, but I'll admit I've never been to the UP. Do you have some other chain of similar, 24-hour convenience stores? Like Open Pantry or White Hen or something like that?

I can see one right across the street from my office. There was a steady stream of folks yesterday.
Out my other window I can see a Chik-fil-A. They were busy on Friday. They were giving away meals for folks dressed like cows.
For some reason this now feels like the perfect time to head out to lunch.

Just checked the store locator -- the nearest one is, as I guessed, not in my nabe, a little over a mile away. That said, it's in a different ZIP code and north of my 'hood -- if it ain't in walking distance from where my apartment or where my subway is, I ain't making the trek all the way up there.

Basically the chain gas stations fullfill the convenience store roll all through the region. Mostly "Holiday" around here and in northern Wisc, and the PDQ stores/gas stations throughout Wisc and Minn.

In my neighborhood, the primary means of transportation is walking (to the el station if it's too far to walk all the way), so there are lots of walk-up convenience stores. But in a region where going anywhere probably involves driving, it makes sense for commerce to revolve around the fueling stations.

I can see one right across the street from my office How far is that on the store locator? 0.2 miles. But that seems off to me. Visually it appears to be 0.1 miles

Also, don't forget to adjust for the parallax.

Did you type in your exact address? Or just your zip code? If the latter, it is probably measuring from the center of the code area.
Either that, or maybe they are using nautical miles.

When I was a kid, back I'm the early 70's, 7-11 was a steady destination for us by bicycle. As we grew up our entertainment changed to racing and Barbara Dare. Gosh, I miss her.

Many more in Thailand than in Texas these days even though it is has been headquartered in Dallas since the 1920s. They still have them here, but they have a lot of competition.

Thailand had 2 7-11s on every block. And the Slurpee dispenser is rather unique -- that woman's private parts must be freezing.
