I know Jake has seen my posts on Facebook about this little roadside Country Store I found in SW Mississippi, but for the rest of you I wanted to share this little gem I found quite by accident. I am doing Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) support here in MS, and drive a route from Jackson, MS down I-55 to Mississippi Rt. 24 over to a little town called Woodville, MS, from the Woodville DRC I go north along Hwy. 61 up to Port Gibson, MS to visit a DRC located there. Then continue up Rt. 61 to Vicksburg, MS and then back to Jackson, MS. Well about a week ago I just happened to notice this old building with a shitload of cars around it just south of Port Gibson and thought to myself "I bet that is a restaurant" Sure enough it was.... and what a restaurant it turned out to be. Read on...
There is a little town called Lorman, MS just south of Port Gibson, MS and about an hour south of Vicksburg, MS that has an old country store that is now a restaurant called "The Old Country Store"... This place is AMAZING, it is the BEST fried chicken and biscuits I have ever eaten... PERIOD!! The homemade blackberry cobbler is also right up there for the best I have ever had. If you are ever within a 100 miles of this place it is worth the drive to go have lunch here, you won't be sorry.
I done some digging and come up with a few links and some photos of the place to share with you guys.
First up is a video of the owner Mr. D singing, this is not a rare occurrence, I have eaten here twice and I have seen him sing at least 4 times.
Next up is a review I happened to find from The Cynical Cook
Another review I found from Road Food.
