I know this is a very specific request but I thought I would throw it out there for this group. I am looking to purchase a remote controlled pan & tilt web camera. Anybody out there have some experience or suggestions?
Sounds kind of creepy but I promise there is not a sinister usage planned. I intend to mount it in our new third story office space. It would be able to view the interstate a couple of blocks away so people could see if traffic was backed up. And we plan to use it to offer a virtual geo caching opportunity.
We are playing around with some different and novel ways of driving traffic to our web site for SEO purposes.
So I figured I would throw it out this this esteemed group and see if there is an expert amongst us on such a narrow product.

Sorry to hear that you do not have a sinister usage planned. That might have been fun!
I don't have any webcam advice to offer, but I'll tell you something you probably already know: Google Maps does include a Traffic overlay, which rates roads in real time with Green, Yellow, or Red, based on traffic condition. Maybe in the meantime, until you get your webcam hooked up, you can somehow utilize that information?
Good luck! Sounds like a great idea for optimizing your web traffic........Jake
