Here's a good article about how to minimize the damage you do by eating during the holidays: Surviving the Holiday FeastThe question is: Do you have the discipline it takes to follow those recommendations?

Fail! Fail! Fail! etc... Nothing listed meets (or meats) my holiday "Excess in Moderation" test.

Assuming the question is not limited to men, I'll add that I follow the list for the most part but will have regular rolls when corn bread is not offered and don't think pumpkin pie is worth the calories without the whipped cream.

As a diabetic, carbs are not my friend, so I have to turn down stuffing, rolls and potatoes. Dessert has become a foreign concept to me.

I am in the process of trying to drop 25 pounds. 16 down 9 to go. So far this holiday season, so good. Christmas Day and New Years Eve are free rein (and my birthday - Vy took me to dinner at the W Hotel last night). Not having to go to lunch with clients often has helped me. Holidays come along infrequently, but business lunches are constant.

I'm sure your Hedo trip last month didn't help much, either.
I've been trying to lose 15 lbs before my trip -- dropped 10 so far, got 5 more to go before Sunday (doubt I'll make it).

I told Denice that I was going to go back to working out starting Jan 2. I said that "I was going to become a lean mean fighting machine and drop 20 pounds". She just looked at me shook her head while she walked away laughing.
This time of the year what the hell dop you do. Parties, booze, chocolates, cookies, pies, cakes, more booze, go shopping so you eat out and so on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now, instead of dropping 20 lbs, you have to drop 30?
BTW, I increased my gym time over the past few weeks, which turned out to be a dangerous thing to do at my age -- I pulled a stomach muscle doing sit-ups. Now, I'm in pain when I try to stand up or sit down or roll over in bed. Yep, bad idea, that ...

Hope you heal up before you leave for Hedo. The flight will be miserable.
30 pounds for me would be almost impossible. 20 would be excellent and 25 would be exceptional.
Either I lose the weight or buy a whole new wardrobe.

I'm looking at the bright side: At least I won't be in pain while having sex because there won't even be an opportunity.
Wait -- that's the BRIGHT side?

Very true -- and I've found that it gets harder to take the weight off the older I get.

I carefully try to maintain exactly where I am. A diet carefully set by proportion and although I like desserts I rarely indulge. If I stop for lunch it typically means I'll get home or back to my office that much later, so I skip all the time.
Sometimes dinner for me looks like a small antipasto.

Yes, that's a Palm Pre typo. The last sentance did't show in the reply window so I typed it again only to have it show up when I posted.
I think it's time for an HTC Evo
