The Village Voice has an article about "good" fast foods: My picks from that list: The White Castle burgers and Wendy's baked potatoes. Do you have any favorites from that list? Do you have any favorites that were omitted from that list?

White Castle cheeseburgers, for sure.
I'd also include several Taco Bell items: the Five Layer Burrito and the Soft Taco Supreme are among my favorites.
I used to love Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips, but haven't seen one of those in a loooong while. Long John Silver's is no substitute.
McDonald's Angus Burgers are quite good. And I agree that their French Fries are the gold standard.
I wonder if a national chain fast-food gyros restaurant would stand a chance? There are lots of gyros stands in my neighborhood, but they are all mom-and-pop operations, no chains at all.

Ah, I was hoping someone would mention Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips! I haven't had that since I was a kid. Speaking of fast food chains you don't see much any more, I'd add the fried chicken from Roy Rogers.

We also don't have Jack in the Box in Chicagoland anymore. I don't know if they're gone everywhere, but they are just a memory here.
Another one that is hard to find anymore: Dog 'N' Suds aka "Arf & Barf."

White Castles were available here locally for a while, in the frozen food section of the grocery store. Management stocked them in the "Ethnic Food" section of the freezers, always gave me a laugh when I passed them by (I cant eat them because of their high liver content and my gout)
My favorite is fast food is a Hardee's (CarlsJr in parts of the country) Roast Beef.

White Castles were available here locally for a while, in the frozen food section of the grocery store. Nowhere anywhere near as good as getting them at a White Castle take-out -- you need to have 'em steamed up fresh. Of course the long-standing problem with the White Castle in my Brooklyn nabe is the drive-thru -- you have to sit and wait for your order, during which time, you're a target and can wind up getting robbed. (either that or someone will walk up to your car asking for money and if you don't hand it over -- or hand over enough -- then your windshield gets broken) Depending on how badly you need a White Castle fix, it *may* be worth it.

Nowhere anywhere near as good as getting them at a White Castle take-out -- you need to have 'em steamed up fresh. That is very true, and I won't bother getting frozen ones. However... my local 7-Eleven carries them NON-frozen in the sandwich cooler, in two-packs. One minute in the microwave and they are nearly as good as the fresh ones from the restaurant. Flavor tip: I like taking home extra packets of Fire Sauce from Taco Bell, and putting that on my Sliders. Mmm-mmm-good!
