Looking for some opinions.
We are in the process of building out our new office space. And I need to choose between cabling with cat5 like our current set up or going wireless.
Our staffing runs between 10 to 15 people. I use a flex T1 for our data connection. The bulk of our work is done in web based applications. We don't push heavy graphics or anything like that.
It is a simple set up. There are no network printers and no server.
Any thoughts out there? I am leaning wireless due to the cost savings. But I am concerned about speed and integrity. Security is a secondary issue but I know that can be properly addressed

Since I work in the area of software development for database security, I'm leaning towards putting security first, FWIW.

Valid point and I don't necessarily disagree. But what i am reading and being told is that security can be properly addressed and implemented for a wireless network. Is that a fair statement or should I be more concerned than I am?

Security should be primary. Use wireless mainly for internal connections, Cat5 for external surfing.

As a laymen I'd be reluctant to go wireless until speeds improved. Waiting for a wireless connected printer is like waiting for a second erection and who has the time for that?

I recommend grinding up 2 Viagras into powder and pouring that into your toner cartridge. That should clear that problem right up.

Except in Gary's case. Believe me, you'll find out after the 2nd Flaming Bob Marley ...

IMHO cat5 is a much better option for two reasons, security is better and speed. To properly secure the wireless you will have to use a wireless VPN and that alone will slow things down considerably.
Working for my current employer we actually utilize a combination of both technologies, wired for clients that we can get it to easily, wireless for those that are not so easy to run wires to, when we lay out where people are going to be sitting we tend to put the heavy bandwidth users in locations that we can get wired connections to.
